In reply to Post #5 Love a big Sergeant. They're all peas in a pod, same size, same year class, in the estate lake, which seems to negate the chance of a proper specimen, but there's always a chance and there's an incredible amount of them in there.

In reply to Post #4 I've just come back from a lake that has Perch to over 5lb, on the last day I was told to use live baits instead of LRF....great ....I'll be back!
My biggest Perch was just under 4lb but that was 30 plus years ago, a big Perch is a stunning fish

My Perch target is 3lb+ weighed, as I've had ones I'm sure were bigger unweighed, but now have access to a club estate lake full of them between 2.5 and 3lb. I was unable to keep 2 rods in the water with a lobworm on a maggot feeder last Spring. And caught a load of them on the waggler and maggot this January.
Been keeping an eye out for Carp on the same lake but no one tells me anything and I haven't seen anything.

In reply to Post #2 Cheers and good luck.
I think they're the nicest Crucians in the country, proper high backed round bars of gold. The biggest I've witnessed is a 4lb 1oz I photographed and weighed for another angler, but not having one at all last year was a kick in teeth. I did have a shed load of 4lb Tench in the process though.
I just try to work with what I've got locally, so that means Severn fishing for Roach this Summer, as I found how to target them with better results over the last couple of years. Basically small halibut pellets.

In reply to Post #1 A Crucian like those..wow. I'm not setting myself a target as such but I'd like to do more LRF for Perch, and target a big Bream feeder fishing or maybe on a float.

Anyone set themselves targets for other species for the coming rest of the year?
For the past 4 years I've been trying to catch a 4lb+ Crucian. Hopes are starting to fade though I keep trying. The first one I had from the lake I weighed at 3lb 14oz. Same fish was in the Angling Times at 4lb 4oz a few weeks later. I think I misweighed it in my haste, but have to call it 3lb 14oz as that's what I called it at the time.
Since then I've had plenty of 2 and half pounders and a handful of 3s, including one about 6 times, but I didn't have one at all last year despite trying! Had a 2lb 7oz in February this year though.
My main target is a 2lb Severn Roach which feels more realistic. I only have to beat my current river best of 1lb 14oz by a couple of ounces. Had a 2lb exactly from a club reservoir but gave up on that last winter as the lake is hammered by Cormorants.
How about you?
