Hi mate
The turbo is essentially the same rig but with a swivel that rotates the business end. I swapped to this years ago and would never go back. I personally would use this on a clear bottom, ie gravel or hard mud, sand etc.... something I started to do was use the turbo but add a slip D to it. That extra space and movement on the back of the hook is night and day in terms of hooking capabilities. Give it a try. Hook wise, I use a long shank wide gape or curve. Hope that helps.

When would you use each one?

I've been using a standard German rig for 80% of my Carp fishing, when would I gain advantage from a Turbo German?
