Thanks but I’ve just bought a new 12ft rod holdall and they’re out of my budget sadly .
There’s a set of hi’s near me for a bit less and 3.5lb but they’re a bit progressive for me , want a faster taper , thanks though

I have a set of the 13ft Free spirit helical 3.5 SU, Nice casting rods and playing action for the money, and can I hit comfortably fish, if needed to, at 25- 28 wraps with 0.35 line straight through with a 4oz lead in decent conditions - not blowing a hooligan

You can get a decent set of 2nd hand aviators for 600.

I've got 3 of the 12ft CTX 3.5 SU. Really like the rods and they are great for casting. Anything above 120yrds and I'd probably just get the 13fts for the extra help with distance. Had them nearly two years and they are solid.

I took a punt recently with a set of Wychwood Maximiser rods, the 12ft 9 versions. You can pick them up for £100 pound each. I’ve only used them twice, but they’re very capable rods for big leads, without spending big money.

Regards.

Johnson Ross are knocking out free spirits at 25% off. Ctx up to Hi s so you might be able to get a load more for your budget or just a little over.

If you're casting technique is good and you are using sensible line and not slinging 8oz solid bags around, you should easily be able to hit that range with a 3.25 rod too

Hi all , I’m moving water in may and am going to somewhere that can be upto 130 ish yards , I’ve had a lesson from Terry Edmond’s and my greys x flites are close to their limit at that range .
So what to buy?
Free spirit helical 3.5 su (new)
Free spirit e class 3.5 (used)
Tackle box cfx 3.5 continentals (new)
Also open to other suggestions ! £600 for 3 is pretty much my limit and would rather go over gunned and not use the rods full potential for the 130yard chuck .
And before they’re suggested I don’t get on with TX2 or 4’s due to the hopeless 16mm reel seat !
