The 12ft aviator plus is a horrible blank in my opinion.

May have been me Vossy? Def not the 12' Aviator Flex - but the standard 12' Aviator Plus (which are slightly over 3.25 at 3lb 6oz tc). Lovely rods to bully big fish with; but for me, a pig to cast at relative range with any consistency . . .I ditched mine for 13' Aviator Plus which are def easier to thump even with my crappy casting. Others also rate the 12'6" Aviator Plus for similar reasons . . .

They're a lovely rod, I'd snap up a set, but they're harder to find in the U.K now (factory build), probably not pushing them v the Torrix etc.
Re the rod I was thinking of, there's no way at present to find the thread, but it I pm'd a member who I recalled commented, and it may have been the plus at a certain size, not the flex, as I can't verify it might as well just forget about it..lol

Very interesting. I might have to get my hands on a pair of Acurix as well then...

Very similar to what the other chap said about the rods I'm thinking about. Re the Accurix, if only I could have persuaded them to make a 3.5lb TC set, that would have been my choice, the 3lb felt lovely.

Interesting you should say that, I really disliked my flexes, aviators in general actually, almost like you're not actually connected to the end tackle / fish. the accurix 3lb I found to be a superior blank in comparison but I guess very different end customers

I can't say, as I can't find my post, but as a rod builder you might be able to guess which one I'm talking about...no?

Edit, if it's not the Flex it detracts from the thread imo.
Edit 2, The reason I suggested it, was the feel of the rod to the original poster being my experience with a rod at the factory, coincidence maybe?

No way is that blank the flex one of the best balanced rods you can get.

Can't you just get a suitable reel seat fitted instead?

Have fun with your "Flexes"! I am sure I will have fun with mine.
Will have to really fish them before I can finally comment on how they really are.
Will comment then hopefully in a few weeks when the lakes are open again. Could also be Mid-March if I am unlucky till they open.

For me the 40mm are correct for these blanks.

Built mine up Hipster stlye with olive duplon, Chiltern rods reel seat Free Spirit style, Fuji Sic, dark grey windings tipped black. Nice.

Albeit my Daiwas Tournaments 5000 BE dont fit the reel seat, so its Shimanos.

I have a pair of Flex currently being made up.

Was looking for a "Players" rod
Actually the Flex wasnt my first choice but the reviews on here and a good few convos with Harrison and Calvin pushed me over the edge.

I spoke to Harrison they do list it as a "Through Action" but what kind of effort would be needed for that action to kick in. There is a lot of power in the bottom half of the blank.

They recover ssssoooo soooo quickly and made my old Armalites look and feel like a whip in comparison.

Deffo feels like a nice softer tip so hopefully no hook pulls at the net which i was worried about
While i dont fish at bigger distances wanted something that was happy with PVA bags and putting me in control when turning a fish from snags.
Also something that could handle a slimy cat should i ever be so inclined !

I dont lie casting "The Beans" all feels too forced.
Cant wait to get them out there and start throwing a lead around !

Super positive reviews everywhere.

I love my Flex, I had custom build with 50mm butt and the rest single leg Kegan's
I find they cast very accurately.
I mostly use bags either solid or mesh and find them very accurate up to 15 wraps
I don't like casting bags further than that with them.
They are fantastic for playing big fish.
