For the rods you mention it's personal taste but I would for 6 to 8000 size and although you probably don't need it I would go for the salt water versions as you could always do a few sessions light beach fishing and bass fishing, you would have great sport catching smooth hounds on those rods , just give them a good wash down in fresh water afterwards.

I have the Daiwas mentioned but just prefer Shimanos 🤗.
5000er or 5500er sizes are just too small of the new reels.

14000 with line reducers are still heavier.

Will have a look at the reels mentioned.

Ditch shimbongo and go Daiwa - you know it makes sense - 5000 size perfect for 12' softish rods

Daiwa Tournament ISO 5000LD QDA / BE
Daiwa Tournament S5000T (BE if you don't like og grey)

Your obviously looking in the wrong places, there are several Shimano reels available in smaller sizes. If your prepared to pay for high quality smaller reels with more than enough line capacity look at the Shimano twin powers which are superb reels built to last.

The ci4+ variants are that bit lighter, but more expensive.

Get a spool reducer job done.
Colour give over….
I wouldn’t worry about the size 14K comes from the surfcast market needs in the US - anyhow today they are much lighter than of yesterday.
The problem is that carp fishing is a small market for shimano so they limit spool sizes for commercial reasons that as a business they have to make.
Without understanding of the Japanese market I’d be very wary of buying reels via eBay.
Or if it has to be shimano buy 2nd hand older models and get custom reels etc to repaint them.

All the Shimano reels at the moment I see are 14000s.

I would need 2 Shimano reels for my new Harrison Aviator flex 12ft 3lbs 2oz rods.
The 14000 reels are a bit too big for my taste and too heavy.

Which is why I would like to buy 2x 10000 or 12000 reels preferably in black that would be fitting for the Aviator flex.

I remember having seen a few beach casting reels Made in Japan that are not necessarily available here or only through ebay.
Not sure if you are famiiiar with these models? Any experience with these?

Other options would be welcome from Shimano. But no baitrunners please.
Thank you and have a great rest of the season!
