One of the best winter mixes I ever used was nutrabaits 4 seasons with Grave flavour and clove essential oil. The other one to think about is black pepper oil.

I think it was pre forum rebuild J so probably gone. Iirc Terpines is ringing a loud bell too, it's all widely available if you search Propolis constituents or properties
@ Adam, I'm surprised they couldn't guess the Asafoetida, those little white pots from the asian supermarkets, then again I guess unless you cook with it you really wouldn't come across it...but once smelt never forgotten

I used to use Asafoetida essential oil at 2 drops per 1lb mix,this was at the time a so called 'crap base' based on semolina, soya flour and calf milk powders and flavoured with Cipro ,a Dutch flavour ...coloured yellow..
The Asafoetida inclusion transformed my winter fishing to such an extent I had people trying to find what the bait was ..
I don't know if Nutrabaits still do Asafoetida..

ISO eugenol is an excellent liquid additive, when I spoke to John baker a few years back about a cold water flavour he mentioned iso eugenol and that is in his butt ringer flavour, I bought a bottle for some homemade cork balls and went on to have a very good winter

I came across IE when I first started using Propolis as I recognised a clove type smell in it. That got me looking into propolis and the more I dug the more I wondered if it'd make a good flavour type label. Just google the stuff, espesh the Red Brazillian, I did post on the forum about it some years back.

Aren't there some cough remedies available that use this?
