Spring and autumn for me. Summer is for topping up the tan and doing a BBQ on the Cadac.
Winter is days only usually.

In reply to Post #1 In order of preference -
Spring
Autumn
Summer
Winter
TBF the height of summer and the height of winter are equally crap, and I'm more likely sticking to evenings in the summer / days in the winter . . . . first frosts onwards I'm into other species. Always cynical about those that harp on about 'quiet banks' and 'winter colours' . . . IMO what a load of bs - elongated hours of darkness / cold / wet / mud / bivvy porn / 58 cups of tea / defecation issues / general inactivity for minimal returns means I have better things to do with my time

I’m out now till Friday this is my favourite time after weather cools down,I’m at a natural lake and not sure what’s in it now having last fished it 35 plus years ago for bream and tench.
I lost my mom early December and my brother had to drag me literally to the lake a week before Christmas to get me out of the house,i didn’t catch but it was nice to be out even that time of the year, and have time not to dwell but think of the happy times we had with her,I know my mom is happy knowing I’m doing something I love and she knew I got out to go fishing at every opportunity I can and if it means a night or a week at a lake I’m happy, she was always even happier if I caught a fish especially if it was big(20plus).
Sorry if this doesn’t make sense
Update……
Just had a 23lb common from here

In reply to Post #16 Well said,I absolutely agree. Very easy to judge others, without knowing an individual's circumstances. My personal favourite is spring, as I get very low through the winter and spring is a huge mental boost for me.

In reply to Post #4 Don’t forget to smell the roses along the way ..
Think about it,
that guy camping by the lake may only get out that weekend in the entire year.
He has a hard life working 12hours a day bringing up 2 kids on his own as the wife has died of cancer.
Those couple of days may give him chance to just keep going without ending it all.
He might not actually care if he catches or not the sense of being near water is sometimes all it takes.
IF he catches 1 he is as happy as someone who’s just caught a lake record.
Spring is my favourite time btw

In reply to Post #9 That's fair enough...they're the exact opposite of what I like in my fishing, but wishing folk not to catch because in your eyes they haven't earned the right. As I said, we all go fishing for different reasons and that may be their idea of fishing, or a release from their daily/home routine. The only time I really care about what others do when on the bank is when they disturb me in my swim, or others for that matter, they have no right to do that and really will be found out very quickly...hopefully.
I'd have to say the opposite arguement can be used with regard to staying in a swim too, especially nowadays with the media driven neurotic red bull type of anglers who'll move on a whim and thrash the water to a pulp wherever they go.
I was never comparing them to good anglers, that's a whole different subject. I personally feel indifferent to good/named anglers, especially nowadays. I've never really respected any because of what they do or catch, because they do their thing for their reasons, and are usually driven people, who'd be driven and successful in anything they do, and get the results they should. Some I'd like to fish with because of their perceived personalities. Others simply put in more time than others, are they a more skillful angler because they catch the fish, possibly not, but who cares as long as they enjoy themselves.
Anyway, apologies for getting off subject

In reply to Post #13 Autumn for me I love it when the big winds and rain start kicking in. Always a productive time of the year for me.

September to November for me I’m off after Tuesday and I’m fishing a natural water next week it’s public and I haven’t fished it for 30/35 years plus when I was a teenager,it used to have loads of carp in,but it’s the unknown for me as I have no idea what’s in there myself if catch I catch but I’m looking forward to it if I have a big tench or bream and then the carp follow I’m even happier, best thing is it’s covered in trees so no one can see me from any paths as I’m really sheltered away and the swims look awesome

Early spring all day long. Mostly because I’m the generation of close season anglers and those last 3 weeks were brilliant. After the slog of winter, it was amazing to get a bit of sun and start seeing everything come back to life, although sad that a shutdown was days away.
I now will pretty much have June and July as a close season as can’t be arsed with the stop start nature of spawning or having milk turn within an hour.
So Spring all day long, it’s lovely to look forward….

Autumn without a doubt. Especially October/November time as banks a lot quieter.

Ah, presumably you’re glued to the water the entire time and never get your phone out or surf the net in case you miss a fish showing? In all seriousness, you’ve all bought a ticket and are at liberty to do as you like. Perhaps you just need to get to the these jacuzzi swims faster than the bloke with the kitchen sink? Or fish somewhere else, that’s more challenging, with less noddies.
Anyway, the seasons…..

In reply to Post #5 I don't entirely agree bud.
Those on a campaign maybe working a spot, or in a swim watching the water looking for signs of fish before moving are generally great anglers who deserve anyone's respect including mine.
Those who turn up on a Friday night, open a beer, scratch their balls, set up their camp put out 20 spods and disappear into their tent for 48 hours then go home, don't.
Each to their own and what they do shouldn't bother me, but when it's a jacuzzi in their swim but their too busy watching love island catch up and not the water it does and they should just go and set up camp in a farmers field for the weekend.

The coldest months of the year. No Noddies asking stupid questions and wanting to borrow everything you have.

For the first time in years I’ve lost the bug this year, partly because I was meant to be moving house June/July time so in my head I had written off a few months. The move got delayed but I still wasn’t bothered about fishing. Not sure if it was because I’d written this year off in my head or I was losing the bug.
These last few weeks though have scratched my itch, slightly shorter days, those damp and misty mornings and a full moon almost here has proper got me wanting to get out again
Realistically I probably won’t fish this year, the house move is imminent, but I feel like by next spring il be chomping at the bit
Sorry I went off topic a bit but it is this time of year that I really love. These damp darker. mornings amd shorter nights that I’ve got that feeling back to get out there

In reply to Post #1 I like all the seasons for different reasons.
Summer is the nuts - the place I fish is dead at the height of summer.... no-one wants to catch them down in weight after spawning. I couldn't care less about a few lb's here or there, and I love sitting out in the warm weather until silly o'clock at night with a cold beer.
Autumn is the nuts when the big weather fronts come in. When you get it right it's big fish time.
Winter is the nuts because it's quiet again. Tea never tastes so good as that first cup on a frosty morning. Any capture in the depths of winter has you buzzing your nuts off.
Spring is the nuts just because it's spring and you can hammer them on black foam and pop-ups!
I wouldn't be without any of them.
