In reply to Post #2 Thank you for you assessment which of course is valid indeed!
If I take others fishing here in Germany the 10 footers combined with big reels like e.g. Shimano 14000s etc. are en vogue here.
People like the easier handling and portability of the 10ft rods compared to the 12 or 13 footers, thats the main reason.
For me most 10 footers, in particular in higher TCs dont have as nice tapers as 12 or 13 footers.
Yet still ease of transportation is something that speaks for 10ft rods.

In reply to Post #1 I have 10ft torrix 2.75 and love them. Built by Chris Orme as a present.
Without being disrespectful- if you are baitboat fishing long distances then I would question why 10fts and why spend big money on torrix? To balance a 10ft rod I like a small and light reel but 250 metres I assume you will need a chunkier reel, 10fts at distance are not going to have the pick up needed, nor the ability to exert pressure.
10fts are a joy to play fish on up to 100yards - a joy to cast under overhangs but I just don’t see a place in bait boat fishing at extreme range.

Hello all,
there are 10ft Torrix blanks for sale for a good price here in Europe.
I favour to buy either the 3lbs or 3.25lbs for baitboat fishing on my local gravel pits (distances up to 250m, not much weed, fish to 25kg) and have them built up by a friend.
What is your experience with these rods compared to other 10footers in that test curve range?
How do you favour them?
Are they rather stiff at that length/TC or still good for playing fish?
I generally prefer a softer, forgiving rod and not a stiff poker.
I have heard different reviews about the Torrix in general here but JohnsonRoss claims its their best seller so here we go...
Have a great season and thank you for your replies!
