It was 39+ Vik. Interestingly the same fish that's just been posted on the SHB thread!

@MiniWelsh the island is the nuts mate. Price is absolutely ridiculous but as a treat it's the best social venue I've ever fished. The set up is wicked and the fishing's fantastic too.

I would say so yeah. Definitely if you go midweek. We had a couple of RK members in the group so got a discount. We didn’t go fish year but 2024 we had it right off at the end of August with everyone catching multiple fish, some double takes and a new pb for one of the group at 35+.

Great place for a social with the communal area. Swims are a bit awkward to get sticks in but doable. Stage stands probably a good idea or pods you can peg down.

Going off on a bit of a tangent, but is Hut Island worth the cost? Looking at options for a social next year and this is one of them

Having fished hut island a few times, you do get used to it after a couple of hours. Your mind just zones them out. When they swap runways you’ll either get more or less planes. Those big ones are something to watch up close though albeit very noisy!

Thanks everyone.
Maybe I should pop up and experience the noise before I part with a couple grand.

That first A380 of the morning sounding like it’s about to land on your bivvy can get you. You do get used to the planes, you don’t really notice them after a while. You can also use the noise to your advantage if you’re doing something sneaky!

In Cemex days, I lasted 4 sessions on Horton Church before jacking it it. Just couldn't handle the constant planes going overhead. Proper money wasted that was 😬

Yes, but the number of flights between about 11pm - 5am is limited.

"What’s the noise from the planes like?"

well it's an eye and ear opener if you've never been before!
Put it this way there's a plane every 30secs above your head and they are low!!!

Sounds ok, I’m not bothered about catching at the biggest weight, just chilling out and being left alone is what I’m after.

It depends what you want but south lake can be quiet and there are places to hide away as such. Maybe not as big fish but stunning venue

Not too bad - depends really, Friday nights can obviously be busy - but it's not as bad as it used to be.

I generally switch between church and K1 - walk both to see what's what, it's pretty rare I don't get on fish or in a swim that's decent.

There are a lot of armchair anglers on the ticket who don't fish it unless the lakes are fishing really well, so it can be very quiet for long periods - then suddenly when it does a hit - it's really busy.

It's also dead on there after spawning for a while, nobody wants to catch the bigguns at low weights, (although I don't care), Church is also a great winter water and can fish quite well in Dec/Jan.

If you're doing Thursday through to Sunday you'll almost always get a good swim / get on the fish, almost guaranteed.
