In reply to Post #13 My go to right now is a Gardner CRV. Size 8 for single/smaller baits, Size 6 for Snowman setup. Sharp out the packet, strong and a long aggressive curve. Hook bead placement is really important. Once you get it right, every time you pick up the bait, the point falls downwards. Hook holds are spot on

In reply to Post #11 What hooks you using on your spinners mate ? I’ve always used a curve but thinking I might try a wide gape for a weedy water

In reply to Post #2 I use the Gemini low level ronnies. Never had a problem with one and you can just change the hook easily.

In reply to Post #9 Exactly what I do. I also use them with wafters/snowman setup. Basically makes them a turbo German rig. That is what I love about the setup, it’s really versatile. I genuinely rate IQ2 as a material and having now found I can Crimp it, I can get neat, effective and consistent rigs, that I am confident in, every time

In reply to Post #9 I’m going to try it that way myself. I normally just crimp directly to the ring on the spinner swivel but I like the idea of having more movement with the swivel on the loop without the ring.

In reply to Post #8 Thanks for advice and all the replies lads just made my 1st one up and seems to have krimped well after testing small loop to attach the quick change swivel at the lead end, and krimped my spinner swivel on a small loop the other as l don’t want to use the spinner swivel with the ring on if them makes sense to you. Cheers

In reply to Post #1 Yes I use 20lb iq2 and crimp it with the 0.5mm XS crimps. Very strong and not too stiff. That being said I bought some 30lb fox illusion to make leaders with and it’s turned out to be an amazing hooklink. Been using it on lead clips on a very silty lake today and had 2 fish on it 👍

I’m with you on the helicopter vs lead clip opinion here. I definitely feel I convert more pickups with lead clips. I currently crimp IQ2 in 20lb with XS Korda Krimps. It’s ultra neat. I really like the balance of stiff but supple of IQ2. I have also used the Gemini booms and don’t dislike them. I would use the Gemini booms at longer range to reduce the chance of tangles. Anything up to 20 wraps and it’s the IQ2 booms all the way!

In reply to Post #3 I use them with a lead clip and not had any issues, even in light silt.

In reply to Post #4 Yes l know that makes sense but to be honest l’ve never been a fan of helicopter rigs always found l get better bite indication with lead clips and didn’t want to use a leader around the pads, l should off said to that l’m abit of a old **** set in my ways. Thanks for the reply

In reply to Post #1 Having just done what you are proposing, and with the benefit of hindsight, I would strongly suggest you use a helicopter rig with the bottom bead set at a suitable height for the silt.

In reply to Post #2 Yes l like the look of them but thinking they might be too stiff to use with a lead clip that’s why l was asking if you can crimp the 20lb lQ2 thinking it might be softer. Thanks for the reply
