Absolutely not what you are asking for - but I got a kettle properly engraved with some personal text and pictures. It does the job of bringing a smile and reminder and sits in the corner of my bivvy reminding me how lucky I was to be taught to fish by your dad.
I would go for a message on the rods - just a short saying that reminds you of him, his name or dates.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my father just over 2 years ago and toyed with the idea of doing something similar as fishing was always 'our thing' and it seemed a way to ensure he would still be with me on the bank.
However I never really came up with any suitable ideas for ashes and in the end I had his rods rebuilt instead. He viewed rods as a tool for a job and didn't treated them particularly gently (they were beaten to within an inch of their life). I now use these rods almost exclusively and have managed to beat his long standing PB on them and am hoping to have 'his' first catfish on them as this was something he never managed.
Appreciate it's a very personal thing and what worked for me may not be something that would appeal to you, but just an idea.

How about dropping some of your Dads ashes into your bobbins. That way your Dad is always going to inform you you've got a take.

Resilure do rod buts with ashes in them

How about a clear acrylic butt cap that's hollow. Ashes inside and then glue a disc over indies end so seal. You could even have the isotope slot milled in as well. Just don't know the longevity of the acrylic

In reply to Post #12 Yep, I can confirm that Chris Palmer (potty) rebuilt rods with ashes mixed into the graphics/writing above the reel seat

In reply to Post #11 This thread is quite relevant for me too, as my Dad died a month ago, and I'm going to pick up his ashes next week.
I've been thinking for some time that I would like a nice custom built set of either 12' 3lb Ballistas, or Aviator Flex's, (even though I already have too many rods), as an early retirement present to myself.
I really like the idea of putting some of his ashes in the whipping / epoxy, above the reel seat, so he can always come fishing with me.

Cheers for all the replies I'll have a look around. Plenty of different ideas to go at. Appreciate alot thank you.

In reply to Post #9 Chris Palmer has built rods where the ashes were mixed into the writing above the reel seat iirc
He's a top rod builder based in Woking

You can definitly buy small plastic jars that hold a couple of tablespoons of ashes
From the works
They come in packs of 10
Some of my father in laws ashes are in a teddy bear he had on his boat that I have transferred to mine.
You could easily mastic them into the butt cap of a rod

My take would be to remove the butt cap, drill the internal end to a reasonable depth then thread the first few mm of the hole. Put a small amount of your fathers ashes into the hole and seal it with a grub screw (maybe loctite the grub screw). Refit the butt cap. Invisible to all and sundry, but you know it's there.

Sorry to hear of your loss its horrible to go through -
Putting something on the butt cap, i think, is more likely to get damaged/ broken off getting knocked on the ground e.t.c.
It might be easier to make a recess or attach something to the real seat collar/ handle area ?
Or maybe having a small capsule varnished on the rod in a suitable place?
good luck with it

If you're thinking glass type isotope enclosure look up sealing glass pipettes with a blow torch.
As per Smurf, it might be easier to get someone like Keith from defiant MPS to make you a clear acrylic type tube with a grub screw cap. You could drill a corresponding hole diameter in the existing butt cap and glue the tube flush with the outside of the butt cap, tube inside the blank.

In reply to Post #1 could you not take the end caps off, place your Dads ashes in the blank and reglue the end cap, the ashes would stay dry and secure in the blank itself.

In reply to Post #1 Have you tried contacting someone like Custom Angling Solutions or Defiant MPS? I am sure someone like this could help
