To be fair, I’ve always found Solars hooks to come up small in comparison to other makes. Their size 2 longshanks are almost exactly the same size as ACE’s or Angling Iron’s size 4’s.

Not all size 4 are born equal. My favourite is. Solar 101, they are quite small. I would go up to a size 2 for 20mm

Size 4’s are perfect for 20’s.
I don’t tend to go up to a size 2 unless fishing 24’s or bigger.
Incidentally, the bream in my water are ravenous this year and are being a right menace. Been trying to avoid them using 24mm bottom baits with 20mm pop ups on top and still getting silly numbers of bream on them. Always makes me laugh reading about people using tiny little 12mm pop ups and wafters. They wouldn’t even make it to the bottom where I fish lol. Sorry for getting massively sidetracked.

Hi All,
can someone advise whether a 20mm boilie would be ok to use with a size 4 hook on a slip D rig or would a size 2 be better.
Thank you
