In reply to Post #1 I use ESP Soft Ghost 18lb. for booms and find it’s exactly the right stiffness to kick away from the lead, and soft enough to bend a bit if needs be over bottom debris etc. I use fairly long booms of 12” plus though. Pulls straight between 2 knot pullers.

In reply to Post #21 Now my tales of Amsterdam, Denmark and Germany in the 70’s, Vietnam and Thailand in the 80’s and 90’s would make your eyes pop 😎

In reply to Post #22 I really like 35lb Korda Boom with fairly large figure 8 loops.
I use silicone to go over the knots to stop them catching on weed as the lake I am on is full of silk weed.

In reply to Post #12 30 or 35lb both work very well. I use the 35 myself

In reply to Post #18 I’m surprised Singlebleep hasn’t started such a thread. He is the official ‘Site Deviant’ 🤪
I’m not anti the stained line. Ages ago (when I had more time on my hands) I would colour braid/tubing with the odd dabs of permanent colour. Not sure what difference it made.

In reply to Post #19 It’s actually a pretty good idea……I used to do the same with multi strand.

In reply to Post #16 Should have saved this one for next April 😂

In reply to Post #16 Why would you stain it with tea? I can't imagine the carp are too impressed with that smell around the hook bait and there are plenty of simpler ways to reduce the shine if it bothers you that much
@karlos, maybe an inappropriate story thread would be the way. Then I can tell the story about when I played ping pong in Thailand 😂😭

In reply to Post #16 I can feel a 'best teabag' thread in the making...
If it happens I have a massage parlor story from my holiday in Vietnam 👍

30lb amnesia clear, but tea stained to take the shine off it 😎
Two good tea bags in a 1/4 cup of boiling water, squash it up like you're making tea for a builder, then once cooled to finger hot remove bags and drop in spool.
Leave overnight 👌🏻

Korda IQ2 in 25lb. I use Korda Krimps too. XS size. Super neat and effective in my opinion and is easily stretched straight

In reply to Post #1 Korda boom is hard to beat in my eyes. Also a cheaper basix version out that could be worth a look at.
