Train for me, so easy, hardly any wait time, let you go early if theres space.
If you book early enough its no dearer than Ferry.
I pay some with Tesco clubcard vouchers 👍🏻

In reply to Post #8 I've booked the cho cho.
Less hassle but more expensive.
Hotel booked for the Friday night 3 hours from the station.
It's an early dart from CW11

Booked on Irish Ferries end of May. Cheapest by far.

While I agree the shuttle is more convenient, I like the period of rest after driving down from the northwest via M6, M42 and M25. Lets you recharge the batteries before another 3 hours plus of driving. If you live in the south/south east, it's a no trainer.

In reply to Post #2 My gut feeling is the same,
The loading, waiting at the port is a drag

Train definitely 💯
But as you say 60 is a tank of fuel but with the extra time queueing and the extra time it takes to sail across and then the little bit of extra distance to travel because the train is nearer and your personal time the 60 has disappeared if you know what I mean
So choo choo 👍

I've usually crossed with P&O or occasionally on the train.
This up coming trip I'm going solo again and the train is 60 more expensive.
I've never used Irish ferries before (although I came back last year and we arrived at Calais early and even though we were booked on P&O I was loaded into an Irish ferry)
Irish ferries are a bit cheaper than P&O so the question is are they as reliable.
I came back on brittany ferries three weeks ago and they are a class act compared to P&O but I'm going to the east of France 🇫🇷 this time..
I'm still not sure to pay the extra 60 a go on the cho cho 🚉 as its usually slicker, quicker and less hassle than the boats. But 60 is tank of petrol.
Any thoughts 💭 please.
Cheers Mike
