In your first post you said that you realised that solubles may be quite high. You have already solved your problem ! At 26 % , you're gonna have a sticky time ! Getting the level down to 15 to 20% will make things so much easier.

I always work in old school ounces but I'll put the percentages in ( just round them up or down ) I've always found it easier to use ounces and then substitute ounces for kilos when making a bulk batch.

5 1/2 oz Fishmeal ( any type ). 34.375 %
1/2 oz Shrimp Hydro / Hydro Fishmeal. 3.125
2 oz CLO. 12.5
1oz Robin Red 6.25
2 1/2 oz Semolina. 15.625
1 oz Soya. 6.25
1 oz Lamlac or Skimmed Milk Powder 6.25
1 oz Super gold 60. 6.25
1 oz WPC 80. 6.25
1/2 oz Kelp. 3.125

This will give you a soluble level of just over 15 % and be much easier to roll. Id also just stick to the recommended level of liquid hydro of 50 ml / kg of mix. Try a test batch and see what you think. You can also tweak the oil content. I usually end up at around 10 % dependant on ingredients and any oil added.

PS the percentages were in a neat column to the right on my draft but they seem to have marched to to the left !

I’ve checked the previous mixes again and the one rolled with only egg is definitely a lot better, I obviously want to include the hydros etc.
I wonder if I included a small amount of egg powder 4% to the mix in addition to the eggs this would give me the consistency I’m looking for 🤔.

It might…
Just consider that sticky mixes won’t be a pleasure to roll on a machine

Thanks Ynnek.
The mix was quite sticky which I expected, so I let it rest.
But once boiled 20mm for 2 1/2 minutes seemed slightly dry, but still soft centred.
It seems very close.
Could increasing the oil help do you think?

You should be able to get away with the liquid package you defined by tuning the mix.
I would up the soya and semolina each by 5%. This would aid rolling your baits.

So I have made two trial mixes,
I have had to alter the liquid mix dropping to.
40ml shrimp hydro
20g belachan
10ml cod liver oil
The first mix I rolled with only egg which seemed better than when I added the hydros in the next mix which cracked slightly 🤔.
Thinking about halfing the amount of hydro even though it isn’t particularly high.
Or sieving and blending the coarser ingredients.
Any advice please?
Thanks Tom.

Thank you Scaley and Dark,
That will be the first port of call as soon as I get all the ingredients together.

Have you ever rolled this mix yourself into round boilies and not cut into blocks or cubes ?

I would personally, before putting large mixes through a someone's rolling machine, try a small 1 egg trial mix myself.

Take you 1 kilo base mix, divide each ingredient amount by 7.
so your total mix is 142 grams, enough for a large 1 egg mix & some liquids.

That way, if it is a nice, rollable mix you are happy with, maybe then try a larger 3 or 4 egg mix. etc.

But if it doesn't roll, or it falls to bits, maybe too oily, or bouyant, your wastage is minimal.

Good morning.
I have a recipe which is very similar to one I have done well on in the past.
But now I’m getting someone to roll it on machines where previously I have just cut it in blocks.
It is.
20% lt sardine and anchovy
10% krill
10% shrimp hydro or cpsp90
10% Clo
7% robin red
10% semolina
5% soya
10% Lamlac
7% sg60
5% kelp
3% beef liver hydro or edible shrimp powder bacarel
3% wpc80 or egg albumin

Liquids
30ml rr hydro
20ml shrimp hydro
20g belachan

Can anyone foresee issues with the roll?
I realise the solubles may be quite high.
Thanks Tom.
