I messaged him a few weeks back and I was a bit confused as to what he offers. He mentioned an rtk system but then said things are still in development so wasn't actually sure what sonar he puts in the toslons

Search for Peter Andrew Simmons on Facebook and look at his latest offerings on the Toslon boat.
That is where my money is going in the very near future.

I put an ND2 review up in the Reveiw Topic thread.

Since then the latest release of the App now includes lake mapping facility, so separate injector technology is no longer required.

Mine was also built by Leigh SD - top bloke 👍

Dont know about winches / fisheye cameras - never used one as its cheating ( !!!!!! )
SB3 has integrated version - I'd prob go for that . . .Do use a CarpSight bait spreader occasionally - good bit of kit!

From what I've read Toslon XR500 has same autopilot functionality as XR310 (joystick controller) but includes the sonar in an 'integrated' screen/handset package. XR500 Sonar functionality is on par with Toslon TF750 which has been out for some time (although XR500 has horizontal rather than vertical aspect ratio). . .neither are as detailed as Raymarine / Deeper but do have dual beam sonar (unlike TF740 which I have) . . .

Personally - I don't like the idea of having the handset and screen in one unit; I'm right handed so like the steering on the LHS and dropper on the right so I can hold my rod and feather line out in my right hand whilst steering with my left thumb (not sure if these can be swopped / assigned on XR500) - also if holding handset whilst navigating boat you'll be looking up and down the entire time between boat and sonar; whereas with screens on a tripod you can utilise a single field of view more effectively (boat position on lake in context with sonar reading) - as the XR500 is no more advanced than the TF750 (albeit cheaper) I think it was released to 'keep up' with the latest Carplounge handset solution . . .

Given the choice I'd have the XR310 autopilot joystick (to replace my bulky Flysky controller) as this is a simple lightweight one handed operation and a separate sonar (possibly Raymarine - more likely the new Dutch one that's been released - cannot remember the name) for the best of all worlds - this way you can also watch porn on your tablet whilst its not being used for feature finding. . .

As for choice of boat . . . Toslon XBoats have a v good rep for reliability and ease of fixing / pimping (Leigh SD rents these as a business) - but they are mahoosive and have weird small hoppers (for the size of the boat) I'd go Berns / Carptechnics (I'm biased as still love mine) or maybe wait for the new AT Compact which should be fully pimpable . . .?

Yeh seen his boats regularly advertised thanks.
That RT7 sounds a problem child.

Any one used the Tolson XR 500?

No problem

I would stress though the toslon is a very good boat and easy to use. With the GPS if you fish open areas accuracy isnt really that important and anything tight or snaggy you could always use the gps to get near the spot and idle to where you want the exact spot.

Might sound from my below message I am talking down on the boat which is not the case at all. For the money I do not think you can get better if honest and along with the Anatec boats think they are the most reliable on top. Comparing it to the RT7 is also not a fair comparison as the RT7 cost more than double the price of the toslon

If you have Facebook look for a guy called Leigh Richard Stewart. He mods these boats and rents them out for people in France etc. Lovely guy, knows his stuff and will give you all the information you could ever dream about bait boats

Great reply David. That GPS distance is huge and would be pointless!

Need some advice before I decide where my hard earnt is going!

Not considered Sailvay Royal model. Sonar looked bit basic?

I bought a Toslon with Raymarine whilst my RT7 was in the shop. The good points are the boat itself is bomb proof. Bit bulky and doesnt feel premium if honest but reliable, quiet and does what it needs to do. Mine came with Raymarine and XR310 remote.

The raymarine on it is the older version which is the dragonfly I believe. Its decent enough but I think my problem was coming from Elements on the RT 4 & 7 its just not nearly as good. Better than the Toslon 640 I had on a previous boat though. The XR310 controller was easy to use one handed, easy to save spots etc. The GPS however was not great. It was inaccurate even if you calibrate the motors and compass before each trip it still was sometimes good 3m+ out which for me makes it pointless. The biggest problem is the remote/boat only use 8 satellites so can never be accurate in my opinion. If I was to buy the above again would buy it with the XR500 purely as I believe the GPS procedure has been updated to not have to calibrate it each trip to get best accuracy(cant say accuracy any better) and the Toslon sonar will do a good enough job without spare tablets etc. It is also a lot cheaper.

Ultimately its a much more reliable boat than my RT7 but when the RT7 works nothing comes close to it in any department. (Big caveat here my RT7 went back to the shop 5 times in a year. Got to the point where I stopped being nice and the guys replaced my boat for a new one and gave me an extra year warranty. Since the new boat came it has been absolutely flawless so guess my first boat was just a dud. The customer service from carplounge was always good though)

As for cameras. Speak to Steve at Stealthcam. There really is no comparison. His cameras are the best and the customer service is up there with the best of them. I had a stealthcam on my RT4 which was amazing and since had the Carplounge camera(based on Fishspy) for my RT7 and its not nearly as good.

Which boat, sonar and winch package would you have if you had the choice or have used ideally?

Choices-
Toslon and the XR500 handset but unsure if this is better than raymarine version?
Toslon with raymarine.
ND2 with raymarine
ND2 with Vexilar
Either with the deeper chirp?

Not sure about Cams with Stealth, Fish eye and Radion variants?
