1-5 to 2oz is perfect for me and all I ever use. Even with small bags you easy get to 3-3.5oz and as my waters have leader bans, these are fine casting straight through and I can put them further and more accurate than a baited rig.

In reply to Post #8 Depends on the size of the bag and the density of the fill! . . .do agree that the lighter the lead the greater the chance of it landing 'upside down / back on itself' which is not ideal . . .do prefer to have a heavier lead on one side of the bag so it always lands lead down and with the hookbait on the opposite side (so it acts like a method feeder)

In reply to Post #7 make sure you pack them tight & pierce it properly
1.5 oz of lead isn't much to sink a bag with any air inside it.

thank you for all the advice.
I will be giving the 1.5's a go tomorrow with KD rigs so i'll see how it goes

In reply to Post #1 Depends on distance and make up of lake.
If you can balance a 1oz lead to descend correctly in a solid bag to not bury in silt its a right edge.
If i was casting a distance on a gravel type pit its 3-4oz leads all the time for control of distance, accuracy, descent etc.

In reply to Post #2 I use 2oz inline in bags with no issues regarding casting,so 1.5 plus the amount of items you put in your bag would be more than ok

In reply to Post #1 All depends on range and the gear your using / your casting ability etc. I prefer 4-6oz inline pear leads on a drop off set up in a solid bag, but then I'm either placing in the margin or using a baitboat at range so weight and bag bulk is not an issue . . ..have used 1.5oz inlines for 'casting only' bags at medium range in the past and used these pre-tied on Gemini stems pretty much exclusively. . .

In reply to Post #1 Too light for what? I vary regularly between using 1.5oz and 4oz depending in the situation I am facing (granted this is general fishing and not in bags) so depends on how you use them. A heavier lead will help the initial hook set, but if you use a tight clutch I don't think it makes much difference, I tend to go up a lead for distance and use smaller leads if fishing close in to minimise disturbance, which is irrelevant if using a bag. Long winded way of saying I think you'll be fine

In reply to Post #1 On the rare occasion that I use solid bags, I have used 2oz and they've been OK. Think you should be OK with 1.5oz.

Good Morning all,
I am wanting to prepare a load of solid bags before my next session on wednesday, i have quite a few 1.5oz inline pairs that im thinking on giving a go.
Are these too light? they will be paired with a KD Rig.
Whats the lightest people use on the forum?
Thanks,
