It really doesn't have to be ecoworthy, but yes the difference will just be charging speed.

I think you said 100AH battery so

5A approx 20 hours to recharge from flat
10A approx 10 hours to recharge from flat.

For info, i just had a quick look at the ecoworthy and for Lithum it recharges at 9amp, not that it really makes much difference.

No , I don’t I’m afraid. It’s something I will get in the future but no need right now

Sounds like I need to get a lithium charger firstly !

The options I can see (ecoworthy) are 5A and 10A . Is the 10A just faster charging ? I can’t see the info on the site

Yes 100% it needs to be lithium capable.

Some lead acid chargers may be ok as a one off if certain modes can be turned off or set but personally I wouldn't risk it.

Ps do you by any chance have a solar panel with charge controller? May be a long shot but I have a few solar panels and have a charge controller that has a mode for lithium batteries. Just asking as you may already have one that would get you started.

Thanks for the reply

It’s a lithium battery that I have bought

Will I need a charger specifically designed for lithium ?

Presuming it is a lead acid battery then any normal car charger type charger will be fine for now.

If you intend on sticking with it and it is lead acid then it may be worth eating a half decent charger with maintenance mode, plenty of options from cheap and half decent to more expensive and maybe better, noco for example make some good maintainers

Ps something like the noco genius will do lead acid or lithium

Thanks for the feedback

Iv ordered the 12v 100AH leisure battery . My mate had a lead acid battery charger I can use in the mean time , would this suffice for the time being ?

I really am useless with batteries

I predominantly boat fish on a syndi in the uk now. Had lead and like you never cared for them as much as i should have.

I went to a lifepo last year and can honestly say that lithium are far far better and more user friendly. The weight of carrying it to and from the car into the boat makes it worth while alone, let alone you get longer out of it and a much better power delivery at different levels of charge.

If you planning on doing boat work for a couple of years id 100% say take the hit now and go lithium

Might be worth posting a link to the battery you're considering, May be able to advise better on charger or alternatives

Did you buy the eco worthy charger too or do you have another charger ? I think they recommend eco worthy

I have one of those - been faultless so far.

I put mine in a bison battery box.

On my traxxis 45 I can run for a very very long time (ie 3 days on big days only waters only used 50% of charge)

Note — I run the echo off a little 20ah ecoworthy

I like the thought of having 2 batteries in the boat in case something goes wrong with one.

Hi, I've got a boat and 40lb outboard thati use on my syndicate, I can drive to the swims so just use a boat to bait up and drop rigs, I bought a cheap leisure battery off of ebay for £45 around 4 years ago and it's still going now, they're probably a bit more expensive now but if it knackers now I've had my monies worth, if you're going to be using the boat for carrying gear about or mapping out swims etc I'd probably look at a more expensive alternative, if you're just using it for dropping rigs and baiting a cheap lead acid leisure will do. Worth noting I never discharge below 50% and always keep it in the house
