I don't like zigs but the only time I've caught on one was at 2am in December.

My local lake fishes well this time of year on zigs , mainly at night too, in fact itís the only method that will get you a bite sometimes , The trick is to fish all 3 rods on zigs until you get a take ,once you get your first take , youíll be confident in the method . Iíve tried all the different fake bugs and flys etc and still the best method is black foam about 15 mm long .
Usually around 9/10 ft long in 13/ ft of water 👍 Easy way to fish 👍

Ive caught on them at night several times - usually black as well.

But for me in the spring to have them on at first light on a patrol route is deadly

years ago I met up with my pal at the Big ONE show and he bought some little black beetle zigs and invited me down on a guest ticket
it was in a syndicate it was a fairly small estate lake not that deep 10ft was about the deepest 4 or 5 ft average
well the lake is quite a hard lake as it had been well fished in the past and he decided to try a black beetle zig on one rod
conditions changed from the bright sunny day and it now was a very dark overcast night and looked like it was going to chuck it down around 11 he said good night and staggered back to his swim he could polish of a bottle of red and sometimes 2 !! anyway around 01.30 I heard his nev screaming it was a lovely carp on the black beetle zig in one of the darkest night you could get too
he said cant believe it I had forgotten I hadnt changed it to a tiger nut
Im chucking it out again 2 hours later he had another on it !
this is from a lake if you get 1 fish on a weekend your doing well and to get 2 !!

So I get how a zig can be effective in the day as it is in the sight line of a carp swimming around and looks like a bug etc. But what about at night? Can't get my head around them working at night and bring myself to keep one cast out during the night.

Anyone have success with them at night.
