So did Smarty.

It was a one off, It's never happened before.
According to the phone I had a strong signal but I couldn't make calls or use data, not sure how long it lasted, don't think it was too long.

ID works off the Three network.
Like all networks they have their good coverage areas and bad.

Yes, well aware of that, I had typed more but deleted it as not relevant... but...we live in a so called excellent 3 coverage area except it was crap. Got some excuse about upgrading a mast, I'd changed my wife's over too, at the time she travelled a lot with work, she couldn't get a signal in Manchester or Leeds City centres. Guess they eventually upgraded the mast near us, or put 1 where it was supposed to be as the ID is fine, now. No excuse in city centres!

We were both on Lyca (carried on EE) until in early dec all our calls started going to voicemail without ever ringing. Final straw came on her Xmas do when she was walking to where I was picking her up from, she didn't feel safe and couldn't get through, texts & WhatsApp all arrived about 20 mins after she sent them. I was not happy to say the least, my guess is EE were throttling the allocated bandwidth for their own customers. Lyca said it was the transition of masts from LTE to 4g iirc and not all phones autoswitch, nice of them to tell me after the event I'm still on Lyca, the issue seems resolved and now I know 3s good here I'll consider them as I need a new phone.

My Smarty works on Three and to be honest it doesn't work so well when I'm in my house but I put up with that as their prices are so good and you are not tied to a contract and can leave at any time.

Edit
Just checked and ID mobile looks good as well

I used giff gaff for all my mobile stuff
Powered by o2 which is French owned I think
Also Used it for van tracker when I bought my own van
Never had a problem

Unlike over here when you go abroad your phone will pick up the best mobile network so what ever provider you use it should work ok.

If you are thinking of changing provider you may want to consider
https://smarty.co.uk/
In the UK it uses the Three network, pricing is very good and you're not tied to a contract so you can leave at any time.
Up to 12GB of data free when you are in the EU
