Agree you don't have to spend tons of money....but with all due respect, although there are some very good budget rods around, (I personally love the Shimano TX2) you know the difference.

Each to their own though!

I’d agree and disagree with that. Some casting rods perform way better than others. But I’d do the same. Only because if I was fishing stupid ranges week in week out I’d rather blow up a set of £300 rods than £1300.

And the abuse they take id happily push the cheaper rods to there limits. But if money was no object I’d use the better material and better tool for the job.

Don’t get me wrong, I was also under the impression that you had to pay a guy in a shed £1300 to get three good casting rods. I’ve paid that or around that for several sets of rods over the years. I’d never tried a cheap set of casting rods.

All I’m saying is that for long range *casting* these £120 rods perform at least as well and in my case I found them better.

To get tackle that does a great job you don’t have to spend tons of money these days. If you want to be flash it’s always going to be more expensive.

In this case yes, as I already have a set of Aviators. As a tool to cast a baited rig beyond 120/30 yards the cheap Kaizen are (in my experience) a better rod than the Aviator. The rings are junk, they don’t have a tarty weave, but they will put a lead a long way accurately and easily.

As I said earlier, I was in a field, so didn’t play a fish, but a load of old cobblers is spoken about fish playing action too.

Id tell him to get whatever he wants to get that he can afford. The post i answered stated he would rather have the kaizen green over an aviator even if it was the same price .

I don’t blame a rod builder for perpetuating the myth that a carp rod needs to be anything but a half decent bit of bendy carbon for slinging leads as far as the fish. We all have bills to pay. It’s the people who eat it up and regurgitate.

Fly rods are obviously different.

I’d feel like less of a plonker sitting in the Uno so I’d probably take that. We’re all different.
