I think rod discussion can be up there with bait discussion. There are some that see them for what they may be, a long bit of carbon that puts a bait where you want it and pulls it in with or without fish. Or an artisan craft.

Cheap bait (pellet and corn) and cheap rods (kaizen green) arguably catch as many fish as rods that cost £2K a set or bait that costs £12 a Kg or £1 a hookbait.

Neither should be shut down as rubbish and both make interesting discussion if that’s what you are into (or make your living from)

It’s an old article but still worth reading. The “China price” is much cheaper than people imagine

There was a few on here that know all about blanks rod building etc that get shot down talking about it . If people are happy to pay £100 for a rod thats upto them . Some good blanks being produced in china . Some not all. ***** guides poor whipping cheap glues and resins i could go on and on . No point .

Absolutely I get the point - the but for me is that you have rods at £600 and rods at £100 and from what you are saying minimal difference. I’m not talking yesteryear I’m saying now. Why would anyone choose Platinums when these are virtually 3 for the price of 1?

Your thinking is way way in the past, the quality of rods you can get for round the 100 mark now is top notch. I have a set of Gardner coverts, and they are nicer to use than a set Of Bruce Ashby TE . Evolution brings cost down and puts quality up imho, I work in aerospace and see this all the time.

£40 made by the retailer? Seems high, but maybe not?

A mate of mine has the 13 x 4lb and really rates them.

I’m struggling big time with the whole range, I don’t have them and have never owned them as have always believed in quality of carbon and have dismissed low end rods but Korda have blown this myth apart it seems.

You can get them for £100 so you have to assume retailers are paying £60 at the most, that means Korda are getting these landed in the country for about £30… maybe £40. That’s blank, eyes, reel seat, make up and shipping…. Absolute madness.

Ive been looking at buying a set of the greens in 12ft 6, 4lb TC. Anyone have any to offer advice/reviews? Obviously these would be for distance fising.

I don't think the rod sales are struggling I think the divide rod bag is though. It's odd they haven't brought out a dark kamo version and I've heard from a few that they don't trust their rods in them.
