Thanks all.

This is basically the exact same situ I’ll have. Do you have more success with bottom baits, bright pop-ups, regular pop-ups, wafters? My typical all situation approach is to fish heli (Ronnie) with a bright pop-up over a good scattering of glugged and dusted boilies.

Maybe dark baits on gravel bottom lakes but wouldn't bother to change baits and worry about colours on silty lakes.

I wouldn't be too worried about colour in silt. Just go for it. I recently read a Dave Lane article where he said on venues where he could use a boat and see to the bottom silt isn't black at all. I have to say in my experience it is usually black / brown but I certainly don't have the experience of Mr Lane.

As others say, will be fine. I've used bug on my lake since it got released and there's about a foot++ of silt all over that lake. No problems.

If they can find naturals in silt, do you think they’d have any problem finding a boilie?

The Bug works just fine in silt (as does SLK)

Hi mate have you considered glugging them even though they are darker if the lake is shallow the bird life will pick the lighter baits out easier even in silt
I use DNA range and the lake I fish is very silty and have done well with the bug,SLK and this season s7 I find it better when I glug them as well and done really well using Ronnie rigs in pva bags full of little items, then bag glugged in the dna liquid to,the pop up is normally a match the hatch boilie but the brown pop ups are not as dark as the main boilies(well that’s what I find)
Lake isn’t that deep in summer loses a lot of water then in winter months gains around 3/4’ of water and even in the shallows the silt can be very deep around 1’ in places.

Would you guys change bait colour depending on the bottom?

For 2024 will be fishing mainly a lake with a pure silt bottom. Wondering if the rather dark brown DNA Bug I usually use will rather vanish against the dark silt bottom and if I should consider a lighter coloured bait (was thinking of SLK).

Do you change bait and colour in this situ to contrast with the bottom?
