Must admit I used to prefer it when beds were able to be lent up and fixed in position for reading or whatever at night or horrible days in the bivvy, like my Nash wideboy years back, my flatlighter only goes flat so I end up laying on my side to read or watch my iPad or whatever, and it’s so uncomfortable doing this. I’ve ended up resorting to taking extra massive pillows…lol

Yes definitely referring to the OG bedchairs

Are we are being conditioned to take a separate chair to sit on during the day now?

Think his referring to bedchairs where it has old traditional hand wheels so you can have the back upright and use like a normal chair

Most brands still sell real bedchairs instead of sleep systems, most brands have a sleep system with a separate sleeping bag such as Solar/Trakker, Fox also has real bechairs but with the option to zip a real sleeping bag on it

Nash/Avid are the two most knownthat make real sleep systems, for me a sleep system is a bed where you can zip the top layer of a sleeping bag onto the mattress.

I don't think anyone still sells a true bedchair. I still use my old jrc X-lite as a day chair from time to time.

Does anyone actually still make bedchairs or are they all just beds now?

Perhaps have a look at the Sonik. I’ve got the SK tek 5 season sleep system. It was about £230.

Ive had a Duralite for a couple of years, and really like it. I find it very comfortable and it feels wider than it actually is.

Hi all, I’m aiming to buy a new bedchair in the new year. My old wychwood has been great but it’s coming to the end.

I’m looking for a unicorn - the perfect balance been weight and comfort. Needs to be light as I barrow long distances at times but I’m not getting any younger and need to look after my back.

Has anyone used the fox duralite , or can recommend anything else?

Cheers

thank you all for your suggestions.

I have returned the Avid bed, kept the 5 season sleeping bag and will be giving night fishing a go on Z (or W) frame bed to see how i find it initially. A bed will be purchased at a later date if i enjoy it. Avid and there heated mattress topper looks quite appealing :D
