My Mrs is struggling with the fact that bailiffs might come knocking. But I will do what you have done and go through the dispute procedure. I live a five minute stroll to a beach which we are told is clean while paper and sanitary stuff gets washed up.

I entered a dispute with united utilities regarding my waste water costs, i went through their complaints procedure, no joy. I escalated it to ofwat, no joy, then a final complaint to another "fake" company that was another waste of time...
So more than 6 months later I started getting the letters that says if I don't pay I will be passed onto a debt recovery company...
I then paid. Thieving barstewards

If you do dispute it then do it all by email to keep a paper trail.

I think it’s time to organise a mass re direction of part of the payment to the water companies. The part we pay them for disposing of our s##t properly.

I’ve said for years that the only cure is to make the Water Suppliers an Independent Body, and run on a none profit basis, with customers Bills pre-set to cover water supply, sewage disposal (Properly) and maintenance/up-grades as required ONLY.

Not run Private as now – as the first priority is always profit and the shareholders (Sod the customer)

Not Public run either – as then you’re at the mercy of the Unions that will use them as a weapon to win any grievance (As that’s what happened when they was in Public hands last time)

Natural Resources Wales the equivalent of the EA,have repeatedly refused to take any action against Welsh Water for repeated pollution of the River Teifi, a renowned Salmon river in West Wales. So it's obviously a nationwide issue.

The corruption, cover ups, failures and environmental crimes identified in this program are happening for one reason only - profit.

United Utilities made over £440m profit last year, and way higher profits in previous years. Every single penny of profit made, by every single water company since privatisation is the money that should have been invested in improving the systems that clearly aren't fit for purpose.

The Environment Agency is just a government department. It will not do it's job of serving the public under a government that just serves business.

Anglers not paying licence fees is a drop in the ocean when you consider the bigger picture.

Exactly my point so why waste resources on the issue when there are bigger tasks to undertake like attending illegal sewerage discharges by billion pound companies.

Anglers not paying licence fees is a drop in the ocean when you consider the bigger picture. The facts are that all of our utilities have been sold off by the Tories for profit and now we're seeing what that means in reality.

There is that and you also hear that less and less anglers are getting checked for a valid rod license each year but it still does happen arguably not as much and dont get me wrong I'm all in favour of anglers who do not buy licenses being prosecuted but in the grand scheme of things I would suggest if they're that under staffed and underfunded then rather than spend what valuable time they have checking licenses for poultry fines they use their resources more wisely and attend illegal sewerage discharges with a far wider ecological damage and chance of a more punishable outcome.

Fine a few hundred anglers a year or get water companies to clean up their act with potentially a fine of £400'000 pound for each event, the shocking thing about last nights program was they were deemed the best of all the water companies.

If the EA can not perform to their responsibilities due to funding cuts they need new management, and should have made it pubic knowledge, instead of trying to hide it..

We have to bear in mind. This has been managed this way in purpose. So that bug business
Can game the system.

In the last decade the EA have lost 50% of their funding and had to cut
1000s of staff.

If this is an example of the EA at work, our countryside is ****ed..

Turning a blind eye to literally millions of litres of **** being pumped into our lakes and rivers indicates they are not worthy of their title and should be replaced with a fit for purpose organisation.

FWIW, I watched this with my wife who works as an engineer in the industry, treatment mainly, she spends countless hours fighting the water companies, of which every single one is guilty of this kind of cheating for profit.

I strongly believe it is time to organise a mass re direction of our rod licence fee, the EA are not fit for purpose, have no interest in our environment, and are most likely taking back handers to keep quiet.
