A friend is refurbishing some old reels and needing some replacement felt washers doesn't want to go for ice are carbontex wants to keep to original felt. We've looked for info what the actual felt washers are made from but can't find much info. Is it just your standard craft felt? We've seen stiff hard felt non woven cloth and non woven felt fabric 200gsm would these be suitable? Had thought about auto industry gasket but a lot contain nitrile although thy're high temperature gasket any rubber based is not good. Friction and heat are completely different apparently.
Any help/advise please.
