In reply to Post #1 Things that have no place in angling, the magic twig, drones, bivvy heaters and now Martin Bowler…

Funny thing is iv'e never warmed to Martin as a media star (cough),just something about his personality ,although you can't deny his fish catching all round abilities.... His insta ...39,000 plus followers yet he only follows a few back.Smacks of someone who just cares about their own self promotion and profile.
My own judgement of him aside ,this whole sorry episode is most disappointing for angling in general...
Sigh.....

On the charge of attempted murder how do you plead?
Not guilty your honour.
But, but we’ve just seen you enter the house with a club hammer, ouzi 9mm and a zombie knife.
If you saw all the video from inside I’m not sure you would see me bludgeoning the victim. This is people trying to smear me.
Fair enough - case dismissed.

In reply to Post #76 Feckin jokers the lot of them. Been saying it for years, these so called super stars pushing out content on their platforms, it's all bull**** and as far detached from angling as you can get.
It all went wrong when people realised they could scrape a living together from it
To be fair, there are a few successful anglers but a lot more desperate ones trying to get there. The downside is that it has put the pastime in a pretty unbelievable state as a result of people seeking fame and fortune, bull****ters, back stabbers, stroke pullers, bitches and catch at all cost types, all trying to best each other to make an extra quid
When antics like this happen it’s another dark shadow over the image of angling, end of the day you could say it is only a fish and it is, but if we have got to a place like this then it is pretty sad, very sad, as is all the social media hanging around it

All about - look at me and how feckin great I am, along with how much money can I make out of these mugs.
4/5 nights a week rotting in a tent can conjur up some amazing ***** to bluff the public.
We probably don't know the half of it

In reply to Post #65 When i was match fishing we had to have 2 keepnets min 8ft x 3ft and that was just for silvers. Surely things have moved on in the last 45 years?

In reply to Post #66 No, there's absolutely zero connection to the thread topic.
"Match Angler Mishandles Fish" is hardly a new thing.
How it can be conflated with the Martin Bowler issue - someone who makes a living from angling, unlike Bullard - is beyond me.

And if you find it please read the comments he is ripping into anyone that disagrees with him!

In reply to Post #66 Some of the worst fish handling I’ve seen even from a match angler!

In reply to Post #67 Doesn’t make him guilty of anything unless he’s tampering with his weigh in or fish

In reply to Post #66 No idea, don’t do social media.

In reply to Post #66 Showed his match results, weighing in some good sized carp that were kept in a keepnet all together, no mate, etc. typical match stuff. Anyone questioning him he’s giving it back to big time. Not entirely sure his responses are all that serious tbf knowing of his nature and antics.
