Cheers mate. We are not going until May next year so hoping not too hot and they are not ready to spawn. Fished in the area a lot in the last 20 years and never known them to spawn in May but guess there is always a first time!!!

No worries mate. Like I say, the fishing was slow for us due to the fish being on the cusp of spawning, so a trip to the shops came as a welcome break! All the best for the trip.

Ok, thanks mate. Good to know. Will probably stop off at an Intermarche on the way and grab a few bits anyway.

Yes, they have what they call an "honesty fridge" at the lodge which has water, milk, beer and chocolate from memory. You tot up what you take from the fridge at the end of the week and pay it off.

Yes mate that's what ours come to - £25 per day. Breakfast and dinner were both big meals but would still go to the local intermarche for bottled water etc.

Sorry I know this doesn't help the OP but I think calling this venue Aquarium is a mistake.
It conjures up in my mind that its artificial, man made.

Fished the Aquarium last week - the fishing was hard going (typical of the time of year) but would love to go back one day. Great venue and the food served up by Tom was great. We had everything from homemade pizzas, Sunday roast, fajitas and curry.

I didn't use a bait boat as it's not really my cup of tea, especially a lake of that size. The weed is dense in one half of the lake although the fish naturally spent a lot of time in amongst it. It is worth using Google Earth to uncover the smaller holes in the weed that don't receive as much angling pressure.

Been looking at this Venue, reading the rules it says Bait Boats are allowed…

I’m not a Bait Boat kind of guy so was wondering if the lake is one of those that are “dominated” by anglers using them?

I get it’s weedy but not worried by that.

What’s the weed situation like? Looks quite heavy in places. Do they blue dye it at all?
