Yes, unbelievable they are still making and selling them, unless it's just using up stock, they've had a price hike as well.
They know the product is a disaster, my local tackle shop had loads returned.

I completely agree. Fishing under a brolly makes fishing feel a whole lot better for me.

I use a fox specialist. It’s absolutely brilliant! Bedchair sticks out a tiny bit at the foot end but I’ve made some sides for it.
Tiny pack down. Fits in any swim and really well made.
I love my nights under it

I wish I'd seen this before buying one.
Third time out it failed.
The sliding mechanism pole is a ludicrous concept.

I would like to thank Tristan at Poingdestres Angling Centre for amazing serviuce, In less than 24 hours of informing him about the issue, He'd arranged a courier to collect it & the following day I'd received a full refund.

Thanks Tristan, your a diamond

Cheers Mike

There were quite a few Aqua Evo''s made by Chris.
Do you mean the special ones in the brown/green sympatex fabric, now they are a real unicorn

I have got one of the very first that were made by fox, I believe they are to the original aqua standard, heavy nylon, aircraft ali poles, it's 25 years old and still going strong.

He's a good guy mate ..

Here's something for you ..I phoned him up.once asking about the Aqua dome...I'd seen one on my local ressi..

I wanted one,badly...but having young family could not afford it ,anyway ,he sent me a long letter, handwritten ...plus some 35mm.prints of a secret shelter which was futuristic, a prototype ,that shelter was the aqua evolution, the real one not the versions fox brought out after he'd done a deal with them..

He also asked me about what fishing was like here ,I said great very quiet places etc..this before lutra reared its head from released ,watervole man sic,

Time and tide passed..Chris kept his dream, moved here's set up the fish farm..and that was that until..

I bought some carp.off him ,met him on the secret lake on the moors ..delivered my carp ..we had a good old chat,....after a while it dawned on him ,that I was the chap all those yrs ago...

Nice bloke I got to ask him about bivvy design in the future..his answer I shall keep to myself

True, I bought one off Chris when he was selling them out of the back of stapeley water gardens, probably mid 90s, I couldn’t quite afford the asking price only being young and I think he could see it in my face, he took me in the back and offered me a slight second for considerably less, a 50” Brolly that was used for years, thing is the slight second as he put it was hardly anything, a few stitches that wasn’t straight, that’s how Chris was a perfectionist

That’s right if you wanted a Aqua brolly you had to give him an old brolly or just frame I see him early 90s at Wembley carp show with a stack of old brollys on the floor on his stand so he was making a lot
Another thing i bought from him was brilliant was a mattress made to fit the click click Argos bed had elastic went round frame and built in welly wipe Chris is a master craftsman
You can’t compare any of this Chinese stuff to him

I'd go for a whychwood 60 inch brolly ,some say the best brollies made ,I have heard it said that the new versions are not as good though..

Second hand maybe..?

I use the whychwood compact 50 ,which is not made anymore, most likely the BEST brolly ever made..,in fact it took me around two yrs to find another, looking Second hand the lot, found one brand new in my local shop of all places hidden behind a door ,still boxed etc,I got the proper wrap as well, this system should last me a long time .

I spoke to Chris himself ,about the original Aqua brolly ,these were at one time based on Second hand frames...also that's why the v1 and v2 were made to address all the issues that can happen with a normal brolly..

I do like a brolly ,makes me feel part of it all when fishing..

If Chris manifold made a brolly it would be worth the price not Chinese made living off his name I wouldn’t buy an Aqua brolly if I was a billionaire there a rip off I’ve had 2 when they was at a proper price when first came out there nothing special they don’t even come with poles both where nicked
Wychwood was far better value

Thanks guys, I did have my doubts about the storm pole mechanism as even in the pictures on the Fox website they look cheap and not fit for the purpose they should of been made from something stronger maybe a metal of some description? I will cross it off my list!

Do you really think a Chris Manifold brolly would come in at less than £300 in todays market?

If you want a decent quality traditional brolly with sides just put your hand your pocket and get the Aqua, job done for 10 years.

For gods sake I can’t understand why someone can’t make a decent brolly with sides the wychwood made a great brolly hd then stopped making them WHY everyone says they where brilliant brolly I had the 50 stupidly sold it
Why do they make something that’s good which sold well then stop making them
I’ve. Been looking at the prologic but haven’t ordered in case it’s cheap and nasty
The wychwood tactical had leaking problems and you can’t get them
Aqua brolly is at at a ridiculous price £275 £300 rip off
There is a market for a good brolly come on Chris manifold mr Aqua start making them again lol

I've got one, and the sliding mechanism broke 3rd trip out, it's pathetically weak, and I could never see it lasting from the first time out.
Maybe I should of returned it, my friend did he's, but I now just use mine as a conventional brolly with sides, for day sessions.
I would be v surprised if they are still being made tbh, crap idea, no way they were field tested.
