Here are a few copy/pastes from the other thread so info isnt lost in the classified section.

Info from chanmenie 🤓
Been using this converted Korda spod for years just used a rubber bead and thick leadless leader, you can land them quietly and as they retrieve nose first the return so quietly and smoothly.
Make the link from the nose of the spod out of leadless leader and tie a knot to secure the 8mm rubber bead. Also make the loop on the spod with leadless leader.
Never fails with the weight of the bait in the spod the loop holds tight on the knotted bead, the alien spod works the same just the loop is metal.
I designed mine based on the Alien spod which I also have, I use the Korda one for closer range as it’s a bit lighter.

The original Alien spod...

There's a thread in classifieds...
LINKY POO™ https://www.carpforum.co.uk/Shared/Messages.asp?TopicID=450803
...where someone is after these spods and I started hijacking the thread (not on purpose).

Baitman pointed me to THIS thread that I am now replying in...THIS thread is probably a better place to continue the discussion.

So how did your 'trials' with the Alien spod go @Spod?

Speaking of Terry Edmonds, does anybody know what he charges these days for a one on one lesson and the best way to contact him if you don't do social media?

Thanks

So here's a link to the Carpology article, but dont bother with split shot either side of the 8mm bead as they won't hold.
Make the link from the nose of the spod out of leadless leader and tie a knot to secure the 8mm rubber bead.
Also make the loop on the spod with leadless leader

If you pm me your email addy I'll send you some pictures of my converted sidewinder which works great

You can convert a normal spod
I converted a Korda sidewinder so it retrieves nose first
Doesn't hold quite as much bait as the Alien but I can cast it over 100 yards with ease

I bought mine from Johnson Ross, but they don't seem to list them anymore. Looks to be a few available from abroad but that will cost you a few quid.

You could try contacting Terry Edmonds? I understand he was fairly active on Facebook
