My mate bought the 13ft 3.75. I had a play and a couple of casts. They do look nice, pretty darn stiff. Felt a bit Heavier than my 13ft hi s ives but not much.
Casting: i found that i can still cast further with my 13ft hi s ives. 4oz lead. They Felt like an out right LR rod casting tool that will take a bit of compressing. Id suggest not suitable for any shorter range work.
They are not for me but a top level caster should be able to compress and hit the horizon.

Any update after these rods have been out a while now. I am looking for a long range rod was thinking of getting some HI’s Ive er but have seen the scr st12 and they look like they would be similar but a lot cheaper. I have a set of free spirit es rods for short range, but would like a rod that would be good for 130-140 yards and more suited to solid bags but still has a decent play action, I know they won’t be like my es but don’t want a broom handle.

I see the ST12 rods in the flesh at the start of the year and was lucky enough to have a cast with them. They are beautiful rods and for the money I’ve not cast anything better and I’ve owned Harrison and Free Spirits in the past. I ended up buying a set and love them, the quality and performance far exceeds their price. Stu and Graham are really nice guys and know their stuff, they are both very experienced anglers and couldn’t have been more helpful. They decided to walk their own path and fair play to them as they have definitely tried to put product quality over profit and give customers more for their money. Can’t wait to see what they bring out next.

Free spirit have a massive range of rods and some I like as I own them and will buy more but I've been course, carp, sea and fresh water fishing for the best part of fifty years but will be giving up session fishing for carp soon.

They are in it for money and carp team England is a joke, carp angling never was a competition until the sponsorship came in with cash. Several well known rod builders have had their own range of rods but hardly any have been successful.mark tunley had his dark carbons but doesn't any more. Offering fifteen percent off a new in established product wouldn't be a deal maker for me personally as the brand may not be around in a few years time .

SCRs website says the 12ft rod is more of a playing rod, but it will still give it some beans(my words not theirs lol)

I feel the same, but they are offering 15% discount until 24th Dec.
So that's a bit of a saving on 3 rods
Plus they are all proper carp fisherman
Graham Mabey is assistant manager in carp team England
They must all know a decent rod when they see one
I asked them did free spirit stop supplying you their rods because tackle shops were getting the hump with you selling them cheaper
They said no that wasn't the case
They said all stockists of free spirit rods charge the same price

That's a big U turn as G always raved about free spirit and I only spoke to him in the last few months about some Hi'S I've ER's. Personal opinion but I wouldn't buy rods from a new brand name untill they were established and had loads of feedback from paying customers.
