If you still want the best active csl then look up Marcus at Mirage baits.

Best additive I've used over Trent shrimp is anchovy liquid/fish sauce then once the temps are up dusting with glm and salmon oil.

In reply to Post #24 You can slow the fermentation down significantly by storing in it the fridge. When I buy a 5 litre bottle, I always decant about 1.5 litres out into a spare 2.5 litre bottle. This gives a good bit of headspace to avoid any explosions. Also, with it being in the fridge it's easier to remember to burp the bottles. I like CSL, but don't want the inside of my fridge to be covered in it Lol.

In reply to Post #25 I'm talking about the powders, not the liquids..

In reply to Post #23 Not too sure about pricing mate, £12/15 for 550ml of tuna extract or similar including delivery is decent value. Their squid stuff is superb, and is 6.50 for 550ml free delivery....that's not expensive imo

In reply to Post #19 I got the CSL from AA Baits as a free gift a couple of orders back. When it arrived, it would barely stand up straight, due to being so gassed up. I cracked the lid off and pushed the bottle back into its original shape. 3 days later I got all my bait rolling gear out to knock up some fishmeals for freezer stock and saw the CSL had gassed right up again!
Bearing in mind that I wasn’t planning on using the CSL until the autumn in a birdfood mix, I thought it best to just pour it away, rather than have it explode because I forget to vent it off 2-3 times a week lol.
To my mind, this is how CSL should be…volatile, but you need to use it quick. If it was the height of summer, I’d be pouring it over my particles. May get some more in my next order!

In reply to Post #20 Bacarel (Seagarden) quality is very high as it is high end food industry stuff, consequently it is costly, which outdoes carp tax in most cases. The AA Baits hydro shrimp is good alternative though, and reasonably priced for bait at least.

In reply to Post #21 Recent stuff seems fine, it's active which is all that counts tbh..

In reply to Post #16 The original CSL used was very dark & runny.
When it ceased production the new versions had a different colour and consistency.
Can’t comment on the comparisons as I stopped using it once it changed.

In reply to Post #18 any powder or liquid from Bacarel will probably be of a better quality than the fishing industry equivalent and without carp tax as most of it is designed for the human food/body building industry

In reply to Post #17 Seems like I jumped the gun with aa I can see from the amount of recommendations in other threads they are a widely respected company.
Which makes me reconsider the shrimp hydro powder 🤔.

In reply to Post #16 I had some lovely hydro wheat last year which blew the top off when first opening and needed regular gassing even when stored in the fridge. This years new batch hasn’t gassed at all which makes you wonder if there is either inconsistency between batches or some batches get deactivated.. has anyone had any nice “gassy & active” hydro wheat this year from anywhere?

In reply to Post #16 AA are a well trusted firm for quality. Supply bait makers across the country. I’ve used plenty of their liquids, albeit not CSL and they’ve been great. As with all companies though there will be misses along the way. No one seems to provide everything!

In reply to Post #15 Some years ago I spent time researching the original grange bait and the descriptions of the original csl were akin to a thick peanut butter coloured type liquid that would blow the lid off because of the ongoing activity when sealed and not allowed to breath.
Which was exactly like the feed stimulants version.
I could well be jumping the gun questioning quality of ingredients off the back of this, but it doesn’t take much to put doubt in my mind 😝.

In reply to Post #14 I could be wrong, but they might well have meant to say dispersed in water rather than dissolved.
As for AA Baits' CSL, I have never had any quality issues. It should have a lovely, somewhat boozy aroma and needs a good shake to mix in the sediment after storage. What would you say are the superior qualities of the Feed Stim stuff ?
