TA or ESP are the better ones for me.

Just take your time with splicing

Big fan of the TA stuff, colours are spot on and very easy to splice

Esp leadcore is bomb proof and frankly brilliant! Used it for years.
The fox easy splice needles are brilliant too.

Esp is the best I’ve found and I’ve used most. Easy to splice and doesn’t loose any colour.

I used to needle knot but prefer the Keith moor knot as it isn’t actually a knot, more of a knotless knot lol

I was a keen splicer, perfect loops and I'd run some thin brush on superglue into the weave and they would look like fused leaders and totally perfect.
I have now moved on and tie the mono to the lead core using a needle knot, but without a needle. See the video (below) of terry hearn chod rig for details. Remember to melt the end of the leadcore (as in the video) to prevent it unravelling. This is the hardest part, but much easier if you keep the hollow section open with your baiting needle.
So no splicing, splicing needle or superglue issues.

The best tip I can give for lead free is get yourself a Fox Easy Splice bobbin type needle. Makes it easy.

To answer your question about leadcore, I still rate the ESP stuff as the best.
