Youíre right. Iíve got the same experience. More tangles with lead free leader on a heli setup

I personally only use a helicopter with leadcore. Primary reason is that I think the weight helps with hooking if the bead is up from the lead. Secondary is that I feel happier it wonít tangle than a softer material.

Iím sure lots of people will say they use lead free heli leaders with no tangles.

I have both TA leaders, leadcore and lead free. Isnít the inherent stiffness of the lead core a factor when it come to tangle resistance? Surely on helicopter rigs the supple leadfree stuff is more prone to the hooklink be able to wrap round it no? Bit confused on this one. And havenít tested the leadfree out yet

TA or ESP are the better ones for me.

Just take your time with splicing

Esp leadcore is bomb proof and frankly brilliant! Used it for years.
The fox easy splice needles are brilliant too.

I used to needle knot but prefer the Keith moor knot as it isnít actually a knot, more of a knotless knot lol
