Thanks for the replies. Thanks Stuart , can’t wait to be honest but he can’t start them till after Christmas . I’m sure the wait will be worth it though.

My last set of hi s were 12’6 3.25 and they were superb. Best alround carp rod ive ever owned. Mine wer built with the standard abbreviated handle with just a few little tweeks with the metalic blue whippings mate, other than that they were the same as a the factory built rods.

I already said I'm after the same rods but who can I trust to build them?

Thanks Stuart . Yes , I also like the look of the standard factory builds . I will be going for the 12’6 3.25 , full cork with clone reel seat . 50mm probably Kigan rings and standard whippings / graphics . Just out of interest what other ‘tweaks’ did you have , thanks ?

Always stuck with the there clone reel seats myself. I love the look of the hi s so stick to more or less the factory look but with a couple of tweaks.

Thanks for the replies. I have s-lites on my Xs’s and have had the odd issue with the ceramics. I was told that these were a lot better quality wise nowadays. Cosmetically they seem similar but was unsure which would be best, thanks .

Go custom with Free Spirit, the off the shelf can be very hit and miss on quality.

Do you have any preference for real seats as well...
I'm thinking about getting the exact same rods but I was also debating getting custom made or straight from the shops.

Always had kigans put on all my hi s customs that ive had built and ive never had a single issue, there bullet proof. Heard a few issues with there s lite liners popping out. I would choose the kigans over s lites every time.

I’m going to have some free spirit hi s rods custom made and am torn between the 50mm s-lite or 50mm Kigan rings . I don’t want anything fancy and like the look of these two - both very similar ! I’m just wondering which of the two people would recommend, thanks.
