In reply to Post #257 Should be a good series against a decent attack, I just hope they can do something about the ball, a new one every 15 overs is no good
Crawley keeps getting out chasing a wide one, but he also scores a big portion of his runs punishing the wide ball. I don't think they'll be trying to stop him doing it, just getting better at picking the ones to go after

In reply to Post #256 Absolutely agree about Compton had a terrific start to the CC but needs to do it over a couple of seasons. Lees is going the right way and if Crawley can learn to leave the wide swinging delivery he looks good when he gets going.
Looking forward to SA now as they have a decent attack. Was impressed with Keegan Peterson in they're last series.

In reply to Post #255 Pope will probably bat 3 from now on on the rare occasion he's available, and I don't like the burns sibley partnership, it's as if burns looks at the scoreboard after 5 overs, sees it hasn't moved and does something stupid.
I feel a bit sorry for Compton, finally gets a chance in first class cricket and looks like the opener England have been after for for 5 years, but now the goalposts have moved

In reply to Post #254 Alec Stewart liked Sibley before he moved to Warwickshire plus they will need a replacement for Amla at some point
maybe Patel dropping down to 3.

In reply to Post #253 He does look good, with Surrey-Yorkshire with white and red ball in the next week it'll be an interesting battle between Brook and Jacks.
Surprised to see sibley rejoining surrey for next season, I don't see that improving the squad tbh

In reply to Post #252 Pope needs more consistency or Brook takes his place and he looks pretty decent. But i reckon they will give people a good run to see how they go.

In reply to Post #251 Yeh they've both made comments that they would be available
Brooke looks the next batter in but I think those two, Jacks in particular might nudge ahead of him with the bowling option they bring. Jacks had a great year last year but he's gone up another level this year
I hope they leave buttler to white ball cricket despite kumar tipping him as an opener. I like the idea, but it's an extreme workload
I think we'll see wood again but I'm not hopeful about archer, and if we do see him again I suspect he'll be bowling mid 80s

In reply to Post #250 Reckon Moeen and Rashid may be back in contention too. Imagine if Archer and Wood can get back to full fitness.

In reply to Post #249 Just knowing england will try, and are capable of those big chases will sow a seed of doubt in the opposition.
I can't help thinking Jason Roy might have fared a lot better if he'd been thrown in under this regime.
I don't think it'll be long before they look to livingstone or Jacks as part time spin options

Looked pretty comfortable in the end, would have loved to see us chase down a score of 450+, I don't I'm wrong in saying we would have done that today!!!

In reply to Post #246 Well you were right Ralph WOW amazing performance.

In reply to Post #246 Hope so but India are not out of this yet two wickets and they are in the tail but they have to attack as they need wickets and new ball is 20 overs away. Bumrah as Captain hasn't helped them allowing Root and Bairstow plenty of singles.

In reply to Post #245 Reckon it’ll be over by lunch with those boys at the crease

In reply to Post #244 Yup agree however, i felt Stokes was too reckless with his wicket in the 1st innings especially when he is capable of playing himself in then take it from there. Hope YJB and JR can finish it off tomorrow.

I'm happy to say I'm really enjoying watching England play like this
There will probably be an epic collapse or two along the way but its great to see them playing with intent, with bat or ball
