Sorry to hear it not good at all. I’ve had my gear nicked 2 times during the last 30 years it’s a horrible sickening feeling.

When I load my car, usually during the day, my rods and alarm bag are last in and first out. I’ve left my bedchair and barrow in the boot and the car backed up against a wall and I still worry about it.

Christ their even broke into my home for my fishing gear, I’m pretty sure I know the bloke whom did this so be vigilant.

It’s only going to get worse sadly insurance is a must.

Use a Faraday pouch or even wrap your key in a bit of kitchen foil, that'll stop them stealing your car but it wont stop them breaking in at night, ,lets face it if there were three or four scrotes nicking your gear in the early hours and you saw them doing it would you be prepared to confront them? These nasty *******s can be dangerous so is it worth your life for some tackle?
As has been said even if its inconvenient it s still best to load up just before you leave, i use to load up the gear that wasnt the expensive stuff the night before and made sure it wasnt in sight, if youve got a van thats possible but people can see you loading it up anyway, keep your rods, alarms, expensive stuff in the house until you leave, i cant understand why you wouldnt

Ok maybe not as easy as it once was but if you think your car or contents are safe these days. It’s certainly not the case. Scanning keys and signal boosters will get you in

Easier in many cases, keyless vehicles are easy to scan which turns off the alarm, this why I have an independan tracker.

Spare room or not has nothing to do with safeguarding supposed valued possessions! The more expensive items such as 3 often more sets of rods n reels, alarms etc etc adding up to in some cases several thousands can and should be found space inside because I'm quite sure you wouldn't leave cash savings, jewellery, designer watches or even laptops, games consoles or any other expensive items in the car would you? The marriage family line is flimsy at best, same goes for the area one lives, I live in a reasonable pleasant area but that wouldn't tempt me into leaving my tackle loaded up on the drive or road. If the wife doesn't want tackle stored in the house that's easily sorted.....just leave the tackle receipts laying around I'll guarantee once she sees them she would rather not have you replace it

No need to be mean, I had to get all the gear out of the loft because of a mice infestation that evening. Next morning it’s gone.
