I normally use a blowback rig with mine but I thread the hook link right down through the mesh bag, I don't like using stiff hook links just always think they don't lay flat and will coil up

In reply to Post #10 I sometimes put boilies in a mesh, and use one as a hookbait, putting it on the hair after making the mesh.
I put various rigs in bags, line aligned, multi-rigs, revolving ring on the shank, whatever. Hook in the bag pierced through the corner to keep the point from getting coveted by crumb or chopped boilies, top it up with bits and tie or lick and stick above the lead.
You can fish a mesh, using the end knot 'tag' to hold the hair in place. Again it can be free flying or tied off to the mainline.

In reply to Post #8 I've seen Ian Chilcott hook on the side of the bag, then pull the hair back through the mesh with a baiting needle before putting the bait on the hair. Nice idea but never tried it myself.

In reply to Post #8 I just nick the hook through the mesh bag and, if using a long hair, tie a wrap of PVA tape around the bag and hair.

In reply to Post #7 Anyone got any tips on how to use pva mesh and also trap the hair to stop hair tangles. I don't want to thread bags down hooklink due to putty and kicker. Only thing I can think is to pva tape the hair then hook a bag on, or I've seen people leave a longer tag, on pva mesh then wrap around the hair, again don't really want to do this as seems like a waste of mesh.
Tips welcome

In reply to Post #3 You can use a mesh bag on most rigs if you just hang it on the hook, no need to thread the hook length through. Hook it near the knot, not through the knot as it can take ages to dissolve. Wouldn't use it on a multi rig like this as it will pull the loop tight to the hook. Should be fine with a Ronnie. Quick, easy, effective.

In reply to Post #4 can also use it on a combi, i put the hook in the bottom and near the top of the bag thread the fluro boom through it. works well.

In reply to Post #4 Thanks, what is the difference between the two?

In reply to Post #3 sorry, my bad I read that as solid PVA bag.
I wouldn't use a Ronnie with a mesh bag as the bead keeping the bait screw In place can move.
is personally use a slip D or a blowback rig. and id thread the mesh bag down the braid so the hook point goes through the middle.
always ensuring its perfect on the bottom.

In reply to Post #2 Is a Ronnie Rig any good or does the presentation not work?

4 inch soft braid to a size 8-6 beak pointed hook.
small pop up 12mm or a wafter
