With the diffusion leaders you are supposed to loop to loop them on as normal knots cut into the leader as they have no mono core. Nash told me so at the fishing show when they were released years ago

I was using looped leaders a couple of years ago, on helicopter set-ups but got concerned with beads going over the double loop, so started threading the mainline through the loop, then uni-knotting over the fused section.

I found large soft rubber beads and rigs went over that quite easily, but you had to make sure the lead DID NOT come off.

Thanks for that - happily was doing it the recommended way, but definitely no harm in looking into it 👍🏻

This fella waffles on a bit but gives the example of the right and also the wrong way to do a loop to loop connection.
The wrong way will damage the leader.

You’ve got me thinking now 😬

In terms of knot strength current approach (simply passing one through the other then bedding down) has been fine with leadercore to mono, but I can see how that might exacerbate the cutting through the coating on these leaders.

What would be the alternative? Guessing looping one onto the other in the way you’d attach a looped hooklink to a traditional swivel - ie going through the eye of the swivel then back out and passing the hooklink through that loop, then bedding down that way? (If that makes any sense at all!)

They have an inner core
Julian cundiff mentions it in his multi rig YouTube vid

There is an inner core on these leaders, in sure I took one apart a few years ago and the core was fused though not just the outer coating.

I've not used those particular Leaders.
Forgive me for asking but are you doing your loop to loop correctly, because not everyone does?

Ive not used these a great deal but the ones I have used have had a fluoro core with a plastic, sometimes transparent, coating like the Nash Diffusion.

The reason I stopped using them was when I realised it was the coating that was fused together to create the loops and not the inner fluoro

Had exactly the same happen with mine. Puts element of doubt in your mind. Seem plenty strong enough still.

Hi folks

Do you know if the Nash diffusion leaders have an ‘inner core’ or are they just made up of the ‘plasticy’ material? I ask as the loop to loop connection to the mainline has cut into the plastic, so I’m wondering if they now need replacing (or if there’s an inner core that’s likely to be unaffected).

On a straight pull they seem fine but don’t want to take any risks... at the same time they ain’t cheap so trying not to chuck them unnecessarily!
