I've been on and off be watching Glastonbury 2000 tonight on BBC2 and have been reminded of some good stuff but I'm even more convinced now that the Pet Sop Boys are truly awful. All those people and all they get subjected to is karaoke

Helmet was on heard a bit so plugged all the holes with tissue paper.
I hate the Bee Gees mid 70's onwards with a passion

Not a jazz fan but I don't mind a bit of trad jazz in moderation
Does this count?

Listening to them I'd say they were overrated

I'd never heard of axelrod, listened to a couple of tracks, not my cup of tea but recognised beats from tracks that are.

I said earlier on in the thread that with rap/hip hop all I neet is a beat, a catchy hook and a bit of humour, I should also have said that I like tracks that tell a story

Dmx Damien parts 1 2 and 3 certainly fall into the last category
Probably not tracks to start with if your not into the genre

catchy beat, bit of humour

modern poet

love song

if this doesn't get your head bouncing, this genre ain't for you!

get your freak on

this short but brilliant mashup album might be a good place to start

It's been a Freaky Realistic day thus far...highly underrated British (can you say 'British' on here these days?) band from the 90's:

Koochie Ryder
This is Freaky..
Sooner

Bit of David Axelrod for the connoisseur's out there:

The Human Abstract

A massive cocaine user, who is the godfather of modern Hip Hop (unfortunately he is white so we ignore this part of music MOBO history and say Hip Hop was invented by Kool Herc in the Bronx as it's more palatable)

they both fall under the genre of - 'brilliant'

the Beasties stuff came about because Rick Rubin was producing their stuff and the thrash band Slayer (you'd love them...) at the same time I recall.

Run DMC / Aerosmith was like an adrenaline shot for both bands when it came out. revitalised Tyler and co and put Run DMC in the mainstream (ish) for all to see.

two corkers!

edit - maybe a bit 'niche' but you'll forgive me I'm sure

Blimey even I get number 3 that's a great song.
No2 is also good.

When we are in this territory I don't know my hip from my hop or rap. I always thought Rand B was rhythm and blues

What genre is THIS
AND THIS

White lines was a top song. The shamen ... Can't get past the dodgy rave rubbish.

No rap for me, 2 and 3 are ok.
I can only take certain types of music when it's been watered down. The authentic stuff is just too authentic for an old geezer like me.

White group interpretation?

International music ?
