Actually... I lent him my Bat Out of Hell album back in the mid 80's and I've not seen it since....
Might be giving him another call soon...

Spoke to a mate this morning who I've not heard from in ages
I expect there's a lot of that about.
Had a really good laugh about our late teens / early twenties and the drunken shenanigans we had.

The catering staff there are making 1000 meals a week for families in the community.

In reply to Post #105 Yeah. I walked for an hour earlier along a road that is normally a traffic nightmare. No cars, just lovely fresh air....

The air is getting cleaner. There’s 8 stars visible over me right now. That’s about 7 more than normal!
Every cloud.....

In reply to Post #103 Daily Express today...
"Health Secretary Matt Hancock claimed last Wednesday 3.5 million of the kits – described as "game-changers" by Boris Johnson – had already been ordered. But yesterday the Department of Health and Social Care was forced to admit the Government had not yet bought any kits due to hold-ups related to testing."
The government apparently agreed in principle to buy these and paid? Like I said, confusion.

In reply to Post #101 Hi Ocelot,
I was led to believe that we were already in possession of the 3.5 million antibody kits and they were currently being tested by our experts. If not, then we seem to have at least, a sample that we are testing.
Sorry to say that your wish for a global, medical body of experts to monitor the world for future pandemic outbreaks is unlikely.
In fact, I'd have to say that, you'd have more chance of being struck by lightning.
BB.

In reply to Post #101 The tests in the original hotspot are lab based and as such reliable, I assume.
I don't know about the large scale antibody testing... I'll see what I can find.

In reply to Post #100 Are they 100% sure of the reliability of the antibody test Jon? There's confusion here over the 3.5 million kits we've paid for but are waiting to receive.

They've just started antibody testing here in Italy.
In a random sample of 60 people in one of the original hotspots, 40 had anitbodies despite never showing any symptoms. Early days, but if so many people are asymptomatic it'd be great. It would also explain how fast this thing has spread.
No vaccine will arrive fast. They have to test to make sure it's 100% safe, thanks to the cretinous antivaxers who would jump on any risk, however tiny, in order to try to discredit the whole concept of vaccination.
