You may remember Russ Burly from a few weeks ago. He was one of the two blokes who won some free GPB2 in a Faceache comp and both caught a 50+ on them. Well he’s caught loads more since Xmas on very limited time short sessions. He’s also smashed his PB again, but I’m not allowed to show you that one yet…. But there was three 50’s caught on those free GPB2 now. That’s at least 15 UK 50’s caught in November & December alone. Gawd knows how many 50’s in 2022 😊

A nice write up from Ricci about his fishing in 2022. The big Wingham mirror was the biggest UK carp I know of caught on our hook baits last year at 62lb4oz. The big mirror was landed three times as far as I know. All three times on one of our hook baits. This has become a common theme with this particular carp. Over the last ten years it must have been banked 20 times now on our hook baits. 2022 was the year it discovered the garlic 😊

🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 UK 60lber!!! 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

At the beginning of the year I set my self a target of trying to catch a 30lb plus Carp every month and of course, my target of the huge Common from my Kent syndicate.

I must say it has been a amazing year on the Carp front, fishing lots of different venues, fishing different styles but ultimately catching some amazing fish along the way.

I managed to catch a 30lber every month apart from November, November was a extremely tough month, I’m blaming it on the amount of rain we had, or at least that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😅
I caught 30’s from 6 different venues and that’s certainly something I love, fishing different lakes, constantly learning and fishing like this keeps you motivated and it’s something I will continue to do.

I had a amazing summer on my Kent Syndicate, limited to 18 nights I had 20 bites and landed 18 fish. On one of my last trips, my last ditch to try and catch this common, at 9 in the morning my middle rod went into melt down. I couldn’t lift the rod as it stripping my braid from my spool at such a rate, with no weed out there it done a 50 yard run before I slowed it down and turned her. My heart was in my mouth. It felt heavy, I prayed it was the one. Eventually I got her close, I saw the massive yellow body plod pass me, I knew it wasn’t my ultimate prize but I knew I was attached to the big mirror again only it looked ginormous! This fish fights so hard, it would be up coughing water then flat rod you on 20/30 yard runs. It would do this constantly! Eventually after what felt like an age I guided her into the net. It was massive! With my Mrs on hand help this time we carefully weighed her and the wheel of fortune settled at a whopping 62lb 4ounces! A joke of a carp, born and bred in the lake.

My normal tactics applied, loads of @stickybaitsofficial krill, our in house mixed particle with @specializedhookbaits hookbaits fished over the top… the ultimate combo that never lets me down.

I didn’t catch the Common, it hasn’t been out for over 16 months but One day… One day…

More targets set next year, keep motivated, stay positive and enjoy the journey.

Everything loves them mate.

Always get asked if we have any hookbaits that tench & bream don’t love. It’s impossible to make a bait that carp absolutely love, and tench & bream do not.

Roach are the biggest problem with the GPB2. They attack them like piranhas.

Happy new year all.

Quote Goose.... And be sold out by the end of the week, anyone going in there is going to have a sniff and get their cash out.

Graham, you are Mystic Meg. They sold an incredible amount just before and over Xmas, and ordered loads more last week. That's why I have not been online. I have loads of fish pics to post when I get a chance.

Pretty worrying for me, exactly how much they sold and how quickly, at the slowest time of the year.

Is that the yellow chocolate one? If so I had a few fish last winter on it and sure I had one on it over christmas.

I’m a sucker for a pot of hookbaits and reckon I must have close to 30 pots of Marks baits 😂 I usually just chop and change between all his various baits as they have all served me well over the years

Thanks!

They still smell amazing, but I just thought I'd check, as I don't know much about them, or what preservatives are used, but I'm sure they're fine.
