Cheers for the detailed reply Mark, in my own mind i had came to the conclusion that different ph values between the lakes i fish might be something to do with it.
I thought my own half baked theory had been debunked when i saw your post about the White and Black catches as i would imagine with both lakes being so close together the PH values would be pretty similar and so one bait in your range would work better than the others in those lakes. I hadn't considered angler pressure and you recommending he try the others, which was a bit daft of me.
Long and the short of it is that your baits work, new pb last week for me from the clay pit on the Garlics, so well happy.

Hi Stuart. In simple terms mate, because he trusts what I tell him I'd like to think. For a few years, John used nothing except our yellow S4 12mm cork balls, whilst he was still a secretive angler. He never wanted the general public knowing the amazing results he was getting on our hook baits, and wanted to keep his edge to himself, only telling friends what he was up too. It was only when he moved onto White this year, that he started using the S2 really. He's only been giving us photos for three months now. We do not have any 'sponsored' anglers as such... John is one of only a very small number of anglers who now get our hook baits for free, whatever he wants. When we had that conversation earlier this year... He likes a 12mm cork ball, which we do not roll in the Garlic. I sent him some GPB1 12mm cork balls which we had produced especially for him. I also sent him one tub of white S3 12mm corks, and told him no one was using these to my knowledge on White or Black Swan and he should try them. He only went for a two night guest on Black... So it was the perfect chance for him to try them. I'm sure he was pleased with the results.... The entire 'Sugars' range of our hook baits, are based on the same base mix, and although they smell and look different, it's the same magic that makes them all work so well. The S2 is only so popular in my eyes, because they smell nice to the human nose, and they were the hook bait that 'made' our business what it is today. White & Black Swan have been ripped to bits on the S2, long before John got on there... The bigguns in both pits have been caught over and over on the S2, despite the pits being dominated numbers wise by anglers from another bait firm. I told John he should try the white S3 I sent him, that he would be pleasantly surprised. Also, we added the dark liquid from the original brown S2, to the white and pink S2 a few months ago. This leaves a dark stain on the outside of the hook bait. It makes them better, but they are not bright white in the tub anymore until they have been in the water for a while. The white S3 are bright white from the off. We are currently making John some white S2, without the dark liquids in, as he has more confidence in them being the original bright white. I am going to ask our customers on social media soon, if they would prefer us to keep the pinks and the whites with the dark liquids in, or return them to how they were before without it. I personally know that they are much better with that dark liquid added from the original browns, and always favoured the browns for my own angling for that reason.... But it does stain them, which is why it was always left out previously from the coloured S2. Confidence is everything, and the customer is always right though. If our punters want them returned to how they were, then we will do that.
As to why you struggled for a bite on the S2 on that clay pit, and then caught on the GPB1... They have a totally different PH... As do our S range of hook baits from each other. Certain lakes seem to respond better, to different PH baits. There is an area in the SW, where the anglers all use the S3, as it is more effective than the S2 on those pits I am told. More likely in my eyes, is the fact that your clay pit has most likely been battered by other anglers on the S2 previously lol. The S2 has been turning lakes over, for seven years now, catching the bigguns over and over again. So I'd personally go more with it just being used on your clay pit a lot in the past and they liked the change to the Garlics. The Garlic had most likely not been used there before, as we have only been producing it for a few months. The Garlic is a different base mix to the Sugars range as well.

Hi Mark,
Any idea why he switched from the S2's which he has been doing really well on to the S3 and GBP's when he moved to a different lake? I would be very reluctant to switch hookbait after the results he has been having on White Swan.
I have total faith in the S2's on most waters i fish but couldn't buy a bite on them from a clay pit, switched to the GBP1 and got bites on my first trip with them. Just thinking out aloud as to why different waters respond differently to different baits.

Is it me tripping or is there a piece of line coming out his mouth to the stuck up dorsal on the mirror? I'm not knocking anyone but I do notice the slightest thing wrong in a photo so I Can't help but say haha

Yes I got back this morning. I smashed Ladbrokes up so bad last month, and we were totally up to date with our orders... So I thought sod it, splash a little of the winnings on another two weeks in paradise with the missus. I got burnt to a crisp... It was 40+ degrees most days. That breeze was a godsend.
