Just spoke to my other mate Dan Hewitt who owns boxing tv and is great mate of Nathan too. Says it’s something he’ll be talking to Nathan about regards dropping his hands as it’s something that he never did even in his amateur days. Just don’t understand it myself as he’s much much better working behind that great jab of his. Dan also says it seems that he just isn’t finding away off finishing off his opponents and when I asked if he’s concerned that he may get tagged his response was ‘it’s not that but seems wary not to want to tire himself out’. Hopefully a few harsh words from a great mate could be a wake up call he needs to stick to his strengths.

Never enjoy watching Nathan as he’s such a great mate and makes me ill just watching.

Hes a decent boxer , he has a lot of faults and at his age he aint gonna get alot better but good luck to him, when you look at just the british boxers at his weight he will struggle .

I guess another thing that brings added pressure is that I’d assume Frank Warren signed Nathan up on the strength of a thousand or so tickets that he can sell at £50 a pop cheapest and to not now have fans allowed into venues then it’s an extra pressure to remain unbeaten ready for when they can return.

There’s around a hardcore 100 fans that would follow Nathan all over but how many would lose the attraction should he lose his unbeaten record probably doesn’t bare thinking about.

Anyway - Thankfully all as of yet go home safe and sound.

As below post suggests I agree. As for punch power he never really got to throw the right ‘I do agree however that it’s got to be more powerful and needs to plant his feet more’. Thought that the bell saved Oliver after going down from that left to which he felt.

Totally agree about fans , The atmosphere a crowd gives is something you cant explain unless you have been in that enviroment , be it any sport, even if they are not your fans.

Agree

Styles make fights, tall with a great reach for the weight, that’s his strength, drops his hands too much and will get punished for it when he steps up in class, not his weight either, lacks the power

Looks in great shape though but I think he was tiring to the end after a few flurry’s and he was buzzed in the 7th

Got the win though

Nathan won’t need me to tell him ‘but I will’ that he’s got to do better. Keep that right hand up as it leaves him open to the left hook.

He can take a good workout from that whilst maintaining his unbeaten record in these unprecedented times where no fans allowed.

Must have being so so different with no fans there but hopefully at the next bout fans will be allowed in as that is a massive plus for him.

Knowing his trainer he’ll be getting a bit of a talking to and quite right too.

Im afraid he will have to be much better than that performance , looks physically strong but absolutely no power in those punches , oliver needs to learn to move his head.

Against Stokes he became embroiled in a battle which was brought on by him wanting to put a show on due to the amount of tickets that he had sold. He was surprised that I enjoyed the Ambomo performance much better because of what was at stake ‘learnt beforehand that providing he came through that then he would be on the undercard at the Birmingham Arena and to which he got tv exposure’ as that to me showed how disciplined he can and had to be. His words afterwards to me were ‘you weren’t bored then’ to which I replied there’s even more skill in trying not to get hit and it’s the best I’ve seen you box.
