In reply to Post #1 Hi,
GAPS waters in Suffolk - Alderson lake, Needham Market and Causeway lake, Great Blakenham both otter fenced. Not sure of cost etc. Sorry.
CAPS waters (Essex). A lot of their lakes are fenced, most recently Brookhall Lake, Tiptree. I believe all their fencing work was done by Embryo.
Both clubs are very helpful and have contacts on their websites, so if you reach out they should give you more details.
GAPS - https://www.gippingaps.co.uk/
CAPS - https://www.colchesteraps.org/
Embryo - https://www.embryoangling.org/
Hope that helps.

Rich Wilby put a very comprehensive otter fence around his lake, he'd be a good person to reach out to. I don't know if he's on here, but he's quite active on facebook

In reply to Post #1 Hello mate - maybe worth giving the guy at CWA Fisheries a shout (got their own website). I know they secured all their fisheries with otter fencing.
Best of luck pal, cracking job in pushing this.

Hi guys, I’m new to the forum and sure how to use it. I need to ask a question and I’m sure if I’m asking in the write place but maybe someone can put me in the right direction...
Firstly I going to be asking about the mercer lake in Redhill, Surrey. Does anyone know it?
Thanks, Terry

In reply to Post #1 talking to the bailiff at Baden Hall this week and he told me that they have ringed off about with otter fencing
it had taken 9 big carp, 2 swans and a few ducks before they managed to "remove it" from site
total cost of £70,000 for the fence
|
|
|
It's hard to get info online, your best bet would be ring around tackle shops

In reply to Post #1 Hmm, it's a difficult situation, indeed.

My local club lake Marlborough pool nr. Oxford had a fairly lengthy otter fence recently erected after losing many a decent carp to otters. Not the prettiest but hopefully doing the job it's there for. I did spot an article in the opening pages in last months carp world mentioning said lake, not sure if they had some kind of help/grant too.

In reply to Post #1 Woolpack Fishery lakes 4, 5/6, 7 & 8. 50 acre site all fully fenced in 2011. Fence length 2.1km, subcontractor cost £31,000, estimated "cost" ("free" labour hours and heavy machine time by owner and syndicate members) of site clearance to install fence another estimated £40-50,000 on top of that.
Otter damage on site before completion of fence, 4 dead 25lb+ 30 year old carp, and two maimed for life. Approx replacement value..... £10,000??
Contact Matty at Embryo angling... he's done lots of fences in the last couple of years.

In reply to Post #22 Forgot about that Ford..! All I know is that the lakes have been totally revamped, restocked the whole nine yards etc..
Wonder if anyone on here knows about fencing at Riverton? If not I'll contact them and ask ..
|
|
|
In reply to Post #21 Haven't been here for many, many years but I would've thought Riverton was impossible to fence as you have to drive through a ford to get onto the lakes, unless they gated it somehow after the ford.

In reply to Post #20 Yes,of course the only one that comes to mind is my friend and manager Andy ,from Simpsons, last I hear he was planning to fence the 'fuzzys'...least that's what I was told by a member who fishes my lake..
Not sure if it built yet...
There are,as you know lots of unfenced lakes in Holsworthy,Pyeworthy all have suffered predation..
I ought to mention Alan Beat, old skool carper from Bridgerule who has his own private fishery with genuine leney strains...(long story)...
Alan was the first person to fence in Devon and was of great help and encouragement to me..So really Alan is the founding father of fencing design in Cornwall /Devon,I have his prototype round my fishery..
Any lake in the Tamar Valley not fenced, and there are still lots that haven't in the Launceston,Bude,Holsworthy area are all very vulnerable to predation, hence why I don't fish some of them any longer...
Does any one know if Riverton is fenced ?
Ahh yes,one more...Mr Aqua himself, pretty certain someone of his calibre would have it all secure..
👍

In reply to Post #1 Joss, what about contacting the fencing suppliers or indeed fishery consultants, they might be able to confirm who they have supplied to or advised on fencing.

I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you.
