In reply to Post #503 Unfortunately the ideal replacement is taking at least a year off from football...

In reply to Post #502 Got to agree. I said it before, I couldn't see Southgate changing his approach which is a shame and I hold him responsible for the loss. If he'd have started with a more attacking line up or even made the subs earlier I think England would have stood more of a chance. When he did make the subs it changed the game and I thought Spain were there for the taking but they ran out of time, and Bellingham was running on empty by the time he did. Stones had a pretty good match but there were 2 opportunities where he just seemed a little lazy, could have put a leg out and didn't, think the cross for the 1st goal might of been 1 of them, but cqr. Also at times Rice just didn't push into midfield to help Mainoo from being passed around.
I don't think Spain played that well but they did enough, fair play to them.

In reply to Post #502 Can't disagree with any of that really. Same old same old, get to a semi or final via an easy route and as soon as we come up against anyone decent we fold and lose.
I for one will be glad to see the back of Southgate with his negative and uninspiring brand of football.
You'll never win anything with losers in charge we need someone with that winning mentality.
So who would we all like to see in charge?

In reply to Post #501 Nope
Spain were far better and once again, Southgate doesn't play the creative and attacking players. Before Spain scored their second he was about to bring Gallagher and trippier on ffs
You have to feel for players like palmer, Watkins, trent, grealish, even rashford and bowen. And in Bellingham we have a potential ballon d'or player who has been like a gold filling in a glaswegian tramps smile.
Kane was woeful again. Walker at fault for both goals.
So many quality young players who deserve better.

Well...
It's a bit uninspiring so far. Same old for England during this tournament
But that's how they've got to the final so who knows?
Balance looks better with Shaw on the left. Mainoo is anonymous- not helped by pickford kicking long every time.
Williams for Spain looks good.
No Rodri for the 2nd half though so that's a big loss for the Spanish

In reply to Post #496 Player for player there is not many I would swap with Spain for me if I'm honest
They are **** in defence. Would love to see JB, Foden and Saka up front, run them to death

In reply to Post #492 Koeman got his tactics wrong, I don't blame the team for that, shame it took him 35 mins to make a change and plug the gap in midfield. From that perspective I'd expect nothing less of the experienced English players to take full advantage but the tactical mistake made them look good.
I don't expect Spain to make the same mistake but as with everything in this comp who knows, though Spain have been consistantlly good. I would like to think Southgate will adopt a more positive approach to the game but again, he's a stickler to what he knows. To everyone watching Kane has done not a lot and Olly has done a lot better in the time he has, it would be a obvious change for me. The stance of Kane occupying defenders doesn't stack up when he's nowhere near the box half the time. Same re Trippier and Rice, keeps playing them even though they're not really earning their place compared to the subs that come on.
Foden was electric, to me with Palmer and Saka they'd run anyone ragid but how often are they getting the chance, as a trio.
Yes Lamals exciting, Cucurella has been superb for Spain, looking forward to watching hime agin.

As I've said before on here, Palmer comes on, things happen. On for ten mins, has a shot and has an assist. Watkins what a finish. Just don't know why he has to leave it until 80 mins!? These last.two performances have been so much better than the four previous. I think England fans don't mind losing when they play like that with a bit of effort. Foden so much better this game as well. I think England have a chance tbf. Bit yes that yamal is special, fingers crossed.

Great goal by Watkins. England played well for a change. Not a penalty though.
