Someone set my mind at ease...

Lost a fish this morning that flat-rodded me and did me in a set of pads. Gutted but retrieved the rig, so all is well.

I use 2.75lb Acurix rods which whilst lovely sometimes leave me feeling a little undergunned.

I know people say you can apply more pressure with a lower TC rod (?), but that doesn't feel the case.

Thoughts?
