I'd totally agree with you. That said I don't think the 30 minutes Vinnie kept the fish would do any harm, especially this time of year.

Same in a lot of big clubs, I've known the current chairman of that place for fifty years and bought a few motorbikes from the dealers he worked at but not been a member for years . The guy that was my best man forty years ago was a member but both him and his son are banned from there for life.

From what Iv heard, pictures were sent to a Baliff. I mean, if you have an issue, you’d say something? If I saw something that bothered me I’d go and have a word to the person or offer to help. Pisses me off to be honest, to much back stabbing slagging ppl off instead of saying it to your face

Our club has a rule that you cannot recast a rod until the fish is returned, and all fish must be returned as soon as possible. Personally I always put them back within a few minutes, I would only photograph a special fish or a new p.b .

Not at all mate, I don’t think I’m right, I’m an opinionated little Fokker, but will always listen to other ppls views. I do what I think best, but that doesn’t mean I’m right. At the end of the day, we whack a hook in it gob, reel them in, if you don’t take a pic, imho what’s the point of putting them through it. Just me of course

Maybe this is controversial nowadays but I don't go in for this destressing before taking a photo.
My reasoning is the fish stressed when it has been netted, so immediately in this order.
I get it out of the water, take a quick photo, weight it and put it back.
If the photo is not perfect then so be it.
If the fish is flapping like mad I might even dispense with the photo.
I've always done this and so have many others. I can't see the point of resting a stressed fish only to stress it again for a photo and weighing session.

Look at my profile pic, I have my tin hat so am ready for the backlash

15 mins by memory. But I’m not being funny, normally I am bang on organised, I think I’d just about make that. I get rules are rules, but fish welfare comes first and I checked on it every 5 mins to make sure it was fine, but hey ho

I get that, they are not spawning, otherwise I wouldn’t be fishing for them. But if that was the case, If it wasn’t for a pic, I wouldn’t put them through the ordeal of hooking them, ‘dragging’ them in just to let them go. Imho that’s pointless (Just my humble opinion of course)

Normally I get them in and out asap, but this time of year I think is a bit different in regards to recovery time

The thing is, Iv had some special ones and instead of waiting a few hours, done self takes at night. I can get good pics regardless of times so retaining a fish isn’t needed for my own vanity. It was merely for a. Give the fish some rest and b. For my mate to give me a hand if needed. It wasn’t a big fish, but Nether the less they all deserve the same amount of care
