In reply to Post #36 I think it's 50/50. I'm definitely with you in that the last couple of series were better without Ali, although I did prefer the original series where they rotated the anglers. Not watched this series of Grand Adventure, to be honest if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't even know it was in

In reply to Post #35 I found it far better without his childish antics

In reply to Post #35 "I found Monster carp less interesting when he was no longer in it."
I found it so much more enjoyable when he wasn't. I quite liked the last few seasons of monster carp. I think Dove & Spooner make a good pair.
Marmite as you say. Maybe I'm in the minority & the majority find him entertaining.

I agree, this series has not been that good. It was particularly rubbish on episode 3, looks like it has been setup for a big finale on the last episode this week. I think that fishing on TV needs to be entertaining, watching people in a bivvy watching their rigs on cameras is boring to me.
The first series was miles better than this, fishing for sharks, catching plenty of big fish from Grenville, etc. It was varied and entertaining so I found it much easier to watch in my opinion.
Ali is a marmite character, sometimes he is funny but other times he is complete muppet with a massive ego. I presume he is acting to try and make the show interesting as he is executive producer, but I found Monster carp less interesting when he was no longer in it.

In reply to Post #33 I'd be amazed if there's another season after this one.

Is anyone surprised it's a car crash, the guy is an absolute weapon. Its embarrassing how he behaves, the sooner this gets dropped off tv the better

In reply to Post #31 It was worse than the last show!
Even Roo said that he was embarrassed.
EDIT: I just realised that I'm behind an episode so I tried to watch the latest & the post still applies. Trash.

Got to say I've not been at all impressed with this series, the last episode was a complete waste of time, even the Mrs said what was that all about!

Seeing Ali in these shows is like watching a car crash happen in slow motion. His mental decline is slightly concerning & he could use an intervention IMHO.
I wonder if regular folks think we're all like this?

In reply to Post #20 "love it or hate it...
its still angling on the TV at the end of the day"
Yeah great, encouraging more joeys who think my past time should be polluted with all their chavvy bosh & bruv nonsense. Half these divs who turn up on ponds these days sound and look like they have just finished a 2 year stretch on B wing for selling pub grub.
Never watched a single episode, have no intention to neither.

Does anyone know where I can get an Ali Hamidi haircut?
I thought it was bang on trend.

In reply to Post #25 This is true.
They tend to be fishing on a hard gravel bottom or a very clear spot with an in your face popped up hookbait. I get that it's for the camera but it isn't realistic which again means we learn little.

In reply to Post #25 When the Korda underwater videos first started, someone on here said turn off the commentary and make your own mind up on what's going on.
I haven't seen this TV episode and probably won't but it would be interesting to first watch the underwater footage with the sound down and then again with it up, then see if you agree with the so called expert presenter.

In reply to Post #23 Good point.
99.99% of us don't have the luxury of viewing our sessions underwater. As you say we'd just change up until we catch. So in reality, maybe a camera would only have the potential to speed up the process? Unless you're Ali.
