The show is magical and has probably done more than any outside body to protect angling from the antis. A prime time feel good show has meant millions can now understand the passion, relaxation, reflection and mental well being aspect of fishing. Whilst the threat of antis hasn’t gone I believe this show has been a great part of showing fishing in a positive light.

I'm not sure if it's still the case but John Bailey used to be credited as a 'fishing consultant' a lot at the end of the programmes, it wouldn't surprise me with his knowledge of Norfolk if he sorted the lake, he has done in the past.

Its the 'only' fishing the wife watches on TV, she thinks they're hilarious! A good watch in our opinion

In reply to Post #11 Love it, two friends, fishing and life's journeys all shown, so candid.
Similar to me. Fishing is a really personal thing and everybody can take something out of it, you don’t need 1000s pounds worth of tackle or to be a superstar angler, it’s about getting pleasure out of it for me, at one with nature, not a care in the world, the great escape, which these two portray beautifully

The way they talk about their life threatening illnesses, human failings, friendship / family acceptance all with belly wrenching humour is so refreshing.
Best thing on tv by a mile.

Not really seen many of these. Watched a couple on some of the repeat channels. But made the effort to sit down and watch the first episode last night. And what a delightful little watch it was aswell. Definitely shows angling as the simple pastime it is. Just two blokes, Rod & reel talking absolute nonsense. Not really worrying what they catch. And going for a few beers after.
Loved the shot of the bite alarm on backwards. Me wondered if a non angling assistant was looking for some content and got the rod on bite alarm shot arse about face. Or it could just of been Bob... " And Away "
