I am not going to be around much for the next few weeks. I had to travel abroad last week for an emergency operation. I ripped my ligaments in my groin 18 months ago picking up a 25kg sack of fishmeal out of a storage bin. Bent over at a stupid angle. As someone used to throwing sacks of dust/plaster onto my shoulder most of my life this was incredibly stupid of me. The ligaments were sore for months, but in time healed perfectly. Unbeknown to me at the same time I also gave myself three separate hernias. These did not heal, they just got worse and worse. To the point where I have been chomping painkillers just to be able to work most days for months. A few weeks ago whilst walking through Heathrow airport, one of these went completely, leaving me barely able to walk. So that has got me to the point where I needed an emergency operation very rapidly. I sort of lost faith in the NHS more than a decade ago, so I have chosen to have this done abroad. My operation is on Friday.

We are completely up to date with all orders on our website, right up until two hours ago. If you have an outstanding order with us, you should expect delivery tomorrow. Orders will continue to go out rapidly whilst I am away.

I am having my operations done in the most expensive way (key hole robotic), to make sure that recovery time is kept to an absolute bare minimum. But I will not be about online much for the next few weeks. If you need to get hold of us for any reason... WhatsApp message to the work mobile is the only way to contact us. It's free.

We are completely sold out of all DNA Bug. We still have 16mm cc, 13mm cc or 16mm balanced Fizz S2, we are sold out of 13mm balanced Fizz for now.

Hope you all catch plenty whilst I am not around.... If I died in surgery, the secrets to the hook baits have been left with family.

Just a few days after his first ever session on Horton Church where he landed two originals, forum member Ben again with a new personal best from Horton on his next trip, 'Alfie' @ 49lb8oz. Half a Hutchie S2 13mm balanced fished with a small bag of pellet from out of the margins.

Ben used our hook baits for the first time in January, catching the biggest fish in Kingsmead that very first night. Since then he has gone on a truly incredible run. Bloody well done Ben! Immense angling. Cap well and truly doffed

Chris completed the fully set of originals at the Woolpack this week. He's only had the ticket two years. He only fishes one or sometimes two nights always at the weekend (works full time with young family). He caught Rosie & Strawberry in his first season. The Pit 4 fully this week completed the full set for him. So pleased for him.

The same feat has taken many others a lifetime by those lucky to achieve it. What a truly incredible carp. Just like the other two. Some of the best remaining in the UK without question.

Fizz S2 16mm balanced over Jo's4baitmix freezer baits.
