I love the black Technium and yes it is a little 'wirey' at first (15lb bs), but much like fluorocarbon it soon settles down and gets better the longer it's on the reels. In my experience it stays in great condition for years and years and I only replace it when it gets too low on the spools for the fishing situation.

Think it's JRC who are relabling CM90 for a re-release.I've been waiting on it,but think I'll try the 8lb in Technium if I can get that sooner.

Over the years I have used both technium black and cm90. Both tough as old boots but I personally feel that cm90 is the better line. I am sure that there was a post on here a while back stating that Berkley were due to bring back cm90 perhaps under a different sub brand or name change and keep an eye on thier socials. I don't think anything has come of it yet

So, for those who've used it and say they've noticed no diff between the tinned and later stuff I take it it's naturally stiff and wirey?
I bought it in plastic but never used it before that, I just found it a little stiff. It certainly sank well but didn't follow contours too well when slack.

My local has had it on order for over 2 weeks, had their dispatch note last week but still not turned up - seem a bit slow with the distribution.

I actually dont think there has ever been a difference. I think its more about people loading onto reels incorrectly (if they are getting twist) or they might be comparing different breaking strains or possibly even had a bad isolated spool of it. I dont see why i would feel/see no difference after the amount of spools of Technium black I have bought over the years.

I didn't notice any difference between the tinned or the plastic packaged stuff either, still got some of the plastic packed left as i bought a few spools before it disappeared.

As for pro clear i never used it but Terry had a lot of dealings with Berkley so it could have been one of theirs Trilene XL maybe.

The original tinned 12lb was the best mono made. I've tried loads since then and all have their issues. Everyone raves about the synchro, found it gets loads of twist. Best was the cm90 in terms of usability, but now can't get that either.

im not sure why people are saying various editions are not the same as the original tinned stuff. Ive been using Technium black since 2000 and have bought multiple versions ... whether it is in tin or plastic packaging I have found it all pretty much the same (10lb and 12lb) .... How have people found it different?

If its the original stuff then yes, I once reeled in half a pallet with it from 60 yards out 😂 not sure if it's changed or not, if it's the original then il definitely be getting some.

No stock in Daves of Middlewich as of now, on order though.
Good to hear it'll be the original g4fne, I'll be interested to see how it differs from what's on my reels.

A Very good line- if its the same as the stuff sold in the tins. - the latter stuff was not the same at all!

The best mono i have ever used was Pro Clear by Terry Eustace - wish i could still get my hands on that!
